They will expire over time. I'm not sure on the point limit.

On your profile you'll see a tab for infractions.

I checked and the ones that don't expire are ones for "general unpleasantness and/or trolling", "insulting member(s) or collectible creator" and "spammed advertisements".

The others all expire within 3 months.
