What's this about now?

Well, that was the plan....... Ah, life does like to play it's little jokes on us, no?

Due to unforeseen circumstances in his personal life, Kuato has decided he will be unable to paint any of my group commissions.

I was preparing to send these off to him when I got the news. Sooooooo, other arrangements will need to be made.

From the House thread.

Chris says the unpainted House heads should be going out this week so hopefully River will be coming too.

Ack...I'll try and see if Chris has someone else lined up or if we need to locate another painter.

sucks, but I'm willing to move ahead with someone else. I'm guessing everyone should make sure Chris has their mailing address.

Have you seen my custom Hot Toys Scar Predator bash resculpt/paint jobs? I have also recently repainted Slave Leia PFs for myself and another guy on here and posted pics in her official image thread under Star Wars. I just redid a Seven of Nine 1/4 bust which I'll post pics of in the next couple days.

Cool I need to check thous out..so how much are you chargeing a head??
Update: Dam! thous are some great jobs you done there.

Is the new painter going to honor the price set at the beginning of the project?

That, I don't know. If we need to find another one (such as SilentSurfer or whoever) then they wouldn't be necessarily obligated to have uphold that price. New painter = new rates is entirely a possibility.

i'm just ready for the head to be in my possession. I'm normally patient, but I'm starting to lose it. the river sculpt seemed so close to being done i don't understand the hold up anymore.

I'm pretty sure the River sculpt is done...didn't BadMoon post pictures of theirs a ways back?

The hold up at this point may be just in locating a new painter. I'd love to see some examples of SilentSurfer's work if he can link them here :D

What was that price? I may do it cheaper. Can anybody give me an idea of how many of these I'd be doing, and if there is a Summer head in it for me? If nothing else, I'd like to bash the Cameron torso out of it.

The info is way back in post #1, but our count was around 40 (!!) painted heads total between bald, River, Cameron, and Cameron BD.

The price Kuato offered to do these for was $30 each plus $3 shipping.

$30+$3shipping works for me. That's some major change at the end of the day. Bring it on. I will also do variations such as hair color, eye direction and the like. Doing forty of these can get pretty tiring if I don't have some differences to work in. I just need to know from everybody who ordered what exactly they want. Let me know what you guys think.

In the mean time, I have some pics of my latest repaint of a Sideshow figure. I didn't actually paint the skin since that was fine, but I did rework the lips, eyes, and hair extensively. Here are some side by sides with the Sideshow pics of their production piece.

Now if you're thinking, "Hey, the hair is too dark; she's a blonde!" You're not totally wrong, though lots of the photos I found on the net make her look like a redhead. It really depends on the lighting and time of the photo I suppose, so I went with what I like the most.

What I did with the paintjob is incorporate lots of metallics such as gold and copper into the paint mix to give it a similar natural reaction to light like real hair has and no flat color can duplicate. So, like the real Seven and real hair, it really depends on the lighting (somewhat dark in my photos) and the angle the light hits it. Check this out.

If these aren't enough to convince some, I would love to do one of the Summer heads so that you all and I can see just what I can do with her.
