Hopeful? Challenging? You don't see that in this but you saw that in the other one? The movie where it's dark and rains all the time is hopeful? Ok

Let me explain it to you.

You said you wanted it to be taken seriously. No? But the original JP is dumbed down version of the book. While it is still good. It is a light hearted version for children compared to the gruesome nature of the original source material. In the original a baby literally gets eaten.

So again bad example. JP was still an amazing film but it was not anywhere close to the dark nature of the original books. You get it orrrr do i have to spell it out for you again?
I never said I didn't see that in this trailer. I don't base hope on the time of day or the weather.

I want superhero movies to be taken seriously.

Jurassic Park was a perfect example because I'm pointing out that the movie isn't a "fictional book" movie just like these aren't "comic books" movies. How well Jurrasic Park was translated and or interpreted to the screen has LITERALLY nothing to do with it.

Ah well...

There was absolutely nothing I particularly liked about this trailer. :lol
I didn't hate it all, it's just that nothing made me go "wow".

We've already seen Superman crash into the frozen wastes, and better. We've also seen Superman be hated on. And, dare I say it, better. IMHO, of course. I still think the cinematography doesn't look particularly good, and I really don't dig Krypton. I won't comment on the CGI, as we know those things are worked on until days before release, so I'm sure it'll get better. Green Lantern looked terrible, I hope there's a backstory for that.

So far, not excited about this. Let's wait for the next trailer.

bro what are you talking about? You SAID you want the films to be taken seriously and not be as light hearted. So you want them to be dark and oppreseive and dreary and then you said JP was taken seriouslt but in compariosn to THE BOOK it is more light hearted and not nearly as dreary.

Your literal definition of being taken seriously seems to be the dark and dreary depressing atmosphere. Yea Snyder movies had hopeful elements in them but he tried to make them super dark. So Yea it does have something to do with it cause you keep saying you want the films to be taken seriously by your definition as in being dark and dreary when the first JP movie was not that.

Also I don't understand why you think this is not being taken seriously? The trunks? really? But Armored Batsuit and pee in a jar is mature? I mean ok dude.

It's all good tho buddy I know i'm not going to change your mind but saying you want "Comic book films to be taken seriously" when half of them are about colorful suited up heroes fighting other Colorful clad people is kinda funny to me.

I've watched the trailer a few times and it's really grown on me. I like the tone they're going with. A comic book movie set in their world, not ours.

I love the music. I remember griping to someone years ago about the lack of the John Williams theme in Man of Steel :lol

I absolutely love the scene of Krypto racing towards Clark, and Clark asking Krypto to take him home. My prediction is this scene will be in the second or final act after Superman gets battered and beaten badly by an antagonist, and Krypto gets him home so he can recharge before ultimately returning to battle.

Can't wait for next July. Jurassic World Rebirth on the 2nd and then this on the 11th :rock

No Supergirl... or did I miss her?

Not sure how I feel about Hoult. I liked him as Nox in Mad Max, but he feels very CW so far. I'd like a Lex with power and menace for a change instead of these younger tech savants.

Generally speaking, I was okay with Snyder’s take on most of the DC characters, but to me, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex was his biggest miss. I could see what he was trying to go for, but it just didn’t work. There was zero menace with that version of Luthor. He was just too weird to be menacing.

Actually from an interview with Gunn it sounds like Krypto is going to be constantly getting in trouble and serving a bit as the movie's comic relief.

So basically another Grogu.

I do find it funny though that Krypto got a bigger buildup in this trailer than Superman himself. Lol

He was the star of the trailer, but I just hope he doesn’t turn into the two goats from “Thor: Love and Thunder.” Amusing at first, but grating by the end of the movie.

"His relationship with Krypto is complicated," Gunn teased. "He’s not nearly the best dog. There’s a lot more to Krypto than you see in this trailer."

"You'll see in the movie that Krypto probably comes off as a better dog in the trailer than he is in the movie," Gunn later told IGN. "Pretty terrible dog! You love him because he's a dog and how can you not? And he's got the cute, innocent eyes, but he's a terrible dog."

The ending of the book with Hammond just off the path... That is some nightmare fuel right there, maybe even as bad as the baby getting eaten.

As for Superman, that teaser has me excited. I love Superman. I loved the old movies. I loved the Snyder trilogy. I expect to love this. One of the great things about Superman is that we all have some different aspect to him that we latch onto, so the interpretations for film are endless. I love to see and experience how others see things. This seems like a fun new chapter after the Snyder era. I'm on board. And Krypto. Finally. Good dog.

I’m much more convinced by this Clark Kent than Superman. Oddly, I think the CK hair looks way better and more fitting for the actor than the S curl slicked back attempt.

The problem for me is an overall problem with Hollywood at the moment...

The best thing about Superman isn't his powers, it's his humanity. He is the best of what humanity is. Everything now is just visual rollercoaster rides and forgets the well written human elements that we connect with. All these big set piece crap are snooze material.

That's why Godzilla Minus One is so special and universally praised; it's not about Godzilla, it's about the human condition and Godzilla is just a part of it that basically represents all our fears and frailties.

Hollywood needs to believe in it's audiences again and write better characters without the reliance on ****** CG fests.

alot of stuff is. not to derail the thread but Nedry's death, the raptor killing the kid in the begining, the raptors killing some of the employees and the small rex eating the lawyer. Gruesome stuff. the movie would have been a very hard R if they stuck to the book.

Yeah I'm sure the dog is going to be causing trouble and disobeying Superman for most of the movie... until he's at his lowest point and needs him most, at which point Krypto comes to the rescue and the audience cheers.
