I ran across a Reddit post of trunks added to this suit two years ago and the majority of the comments hated it. Wonder what they think of this now in comparison to what we’re actually getting.

This actually looks like a live action Superman would to me. The new kid just doesn’t have the look.

Compared to the new movie suit, that is a masterpiece.
Personally, I never cared much about the “trunks” one way or the other. Could take them or leave them. I wouldn’t really even care that they were on the new suit, if the rest of it looked good.

I like the trailer and it gives me hope that Gunn will nail this.

It’s a crime that the best Superman movie is still the 70’s version.

Krypto running in the distance creating the snow cloud was great. I was dreading the idea of Krypto being in this but now I’m sold.

Superman saving the girl was my 2nd fav moment.

This looks like it might capture some of the 70’s magic Of Donner’s Superman movie.

JW score doesn’t hurt

I’m positive this will be better than the Snyder films that contain Superman. Then again that’s not saying much.

I do worry about the huge cast of characters

LL and Supes appear to have real chemistry in this. At least it looks like it. Never like Amy Adamsverion or Superman Returns version.

Worked in Superman Returns. And he flew so fast he went back in time in one film. Kissed Lois to make her forget he was Superman too.
Are these the same versions of Superman, at the same point in their lives?

So when Superman is forced with the tough choice of living without the woman he loves he makes time go backwards for everyone on the planet regardless of the complications that might arise and be oblivious to?

Forcing her to forget who he was?

Neither of these sound very Supermanly.
See how ******* stupid that sounds?

As is the case with most who crap on Snyder's DC films. Seldom does it seem like they grasp the material. And that's not a comment on the depth of those films. It's just how shallow audiences are in general, and particularly in this demographic. You only have to listen to them talk.

But otherwise, it's ok to dislike those films. They certainly have their flaws. I only take issue with the rationale.

They nerfed him to be able to drive the story forward. In MoS, he heard Zod at the farm while he was talking to Lois and he flew straight over to save Martha. He wasn't even paying attention to his mother, but he heard her.

Batman needed something to do so lets pretend Superman can't hear his mothers screams.

As far as I know also, Supes can recognize and pick out Lois's heartbeat in the comics out of billions of people in the planet.
What about Martha's? It's a fine idea but unless it's introduced we can't rely on it in that interpretation and call it a failure for not using it.

Indeed, Superman is as strong or weak as the screenplay demands at the moment, maybe when looking for Martha he forgot he had xray vision and super speed but then he had no problem earlier in the movie pinpointing Amy Adams farting in a cave in North Africa.
Yes, because 20 people in a compound in Africa is on par with two metropolitan cities. One of which he isn't in.

I was trolling a bit there. Slightly.

They didn't nerf him you are just not looking at the big picture.
How is hearing a woman scream across open fields in the same town the same as listening for a gagged woman across two metropolitan cities?
She got a tiny scream off while he was over 2000 miles away.

He was up in the mountains, hallucinating about his dad, didn't hear his mum get grabbed by men but heard Lois get thrown off a building. Seems like they pick and choose what he can and can't hear.

'But Lois screamed louder' I shouldn't have to figure out Superman's hearing sensitivity.

This could go on forever so...

I love MoS btw and I have a love/hate relationship with BvS. ZSJL doens't have enough Supes in it and when he is in he's in black so I don't pay much attention to it. Josstice League doesn't exist.

I just think Snyder got some characterisation stuff completely wrong, for the sake of being deconstructionist.

Not what he can hear but when he can hear it, it's written that way, like EVERY movie does.

You're trying to bring up flaws in the logic that aren't there by generalizing it. Lois did literally scream louder. Are you saying volume doesn't count?

Have you not thought that Lex waited until he had tracked Superman back to the city before throwing her off the building? He didn't care if she died or not. He just wanted Superman's attention.

Many people agree with you that Snyder did some things wrong but that has nothing to do with the logic of the script.

Strangely enough, there was actually a scene filmed where Superman tried searching for Martha by using his super-hearing, but he would’ve had to block out the cries of everyone else in trouble, so he didn’t. They cut it out, and didn’t even include it in the Ultimate Edition, which is weird.

Still feels a bit contrived so Superman would have no choice but to go fight Batman (the movie being called Batman v Superman and all), but in cutting that scene out, he doesn’t even try to get out of the situation Lex wanted him in.

I purposely didn't bring this up because it's not in the movie. I like the idea to a degree.
The thing is, if he did this and ignored all the other cries, would he have got to her before they killed her? He doesn't know what their set-up is.

Once again Snyder needs 4 hours to get the 'real' story across properly.
