Suspicious attack on Hot Toys?

People don't like to give their true identity when they are haters, especially in a city like HK. Do you there was a case when the CEO of HT told a customer that he was not good enough to play their product?

some of the more vocal "protestors" on Facebook I noticed that most of them are Chinese

Conspiracy?

Maybe, but very unlikely.

HOT TOYS has had "home runs" and had some lousy plays at bat . . . away and at home.

The "backlash" or attack is due to the same reasons that other companies experienced. The initial prototype looked superior than the final production version and/or the final production version was crap in terms of design and/or quality and/or any other reasons collectors can come up with whether justified or not given how much $ the typical offering costs.

We do this on a daily basis within this forum throughout a variety of sub-sections dedicated to certain licenses.

;)

IMHO . . . HOT TOYS do deserve a bit of harsh reality or tough love from from it's detractors and even it's supporters to make sure they're actually listening to their customers.

Then again . . . maybe no one gives a damn and this is all rather moot because some of us will buy anything & everything they produce under the belief they can do no wrong?

;)

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, bit I don't think it's out of the question to think that 'someone' could be trying to mess with Hot Toys. Aftet all, they've made their share of enemies in the collecting world. They've beaten out Enterbay in 1/6 collectibles, and they've even announced going into the 1/4 market just after Enterbay announced their 1/4 figures. Talk about "perfect" timing. Then there was the whole issue a few months ago when Hot Toys threatened Headplay for producing a prototype for Metal Gear Solid figures.

How come HOT TOYS have yet to go after VERY HOT TOYS for bootlegging so much of their previous 1:6 military offerings? Is it not worth their effort time given they may have to go after some of the same factories that they deal/work with?

I did not know they went after HEADPLAY. What brought that on? No disrespect to HEADPLAY or those who like HEADPLAY. HEADPLAY offers some interesting headsculpts to say the least, but their likeness are no where near HOT TOYS likenesses.

I'm not a fan of Headplay's, either. Long story short:
A few months ago, he went after a license (Metal Gear Solid) that Hot Toys was producing. After Hot Toys found out, they issued a "cease and desist" notice for him to remove all of his pictures about the figure from the net. He complied, but after several months of a hiatus, he went ahead to mass produced his bootlegs, anyway. Recently, he's even started to make bootleg copies of Hot Toy's Bruce Wayne sculpt from the Batman Begins 2011 figure. Granted, they look like s### :lol.

i think the thing with hot toys is that most of its fans are new to the hobby and have no real understanding of what came before them or even the prototype process
and ht only really made a splash relatively recently, and fans of their product have an instant feeling of grandeur because it so called puts them up in the ranks of long time collectors due to the price points

if you look at sideshows fb page there arent a thousand people posting in hand pics and nit picking and bashing, i think more diverse collectors are a lot more reserved about the hobby

just my opinion

I'm new to 12" collecting myself (I have other, unrelated stuff I collected over the years) as I've started with Sideshow's Star Wars figures a couple years ago. Thus I'm a newby in this, but I've set some ground rules for myself. I admit I'm only willing to part with my money (and in my country $200 is way more than in the West since our average salary is between $800-$1000) if I absolutely love the figure.

For that reason I only bought Vader, Stormtrooper and the Emperor. Not because I only love the bad guys, but because Sideshow Luke looked too plasticy to me. When Indy was announced I thought about grabbing him, but when I saw the sculpt I immediately gave up. True, the earlier figures looked worse, but for me, personally, this wasn't up to the level of spoilness Hot Toys got us used to.

However, after making a few remarks about his likeness I withdrew from the heated debate in the Indy thread. The tricky thing about pre-orders is that you have to order well in advance, but you've no idea if the final product will be a dud. Consequently, all the Indy fans are, in a way, right to be angry, but seriously, did they really think the final sculpt would be THAT different?

Jack Sparrow, for example, has a prototype so good that, even if minor differences ensue in the final product, it will still look 95% Depp and I pre ordered right away.

I think each person that has $200+ to spare, barring stolen parents' credit cards, is adult enough to be able to make an educated choice after seeing the prototype. I would rather miss out on a figure (and wait for the eventual re-release) than waste money on something I didn't like in the first place.

All this _____ing on FB, which now spread to Captain America, as well, is crazy. Don't like it, don't buy it. Simple, really. :)

I'm pretty sure the recent BS is coming from Enterbay. I've been following Bill's blog and he has been constantly dropping sarcastic remarks aimed at Hottoys. Its really sad to see a good competition come down to petty moves like these. I won't be surprised if Enterbay hired a bunch of internet hooligans to spam hottoys' fb and the forums. But to be fair I can see where the aggression is coming from. I mean right after Enterbay releases the 1/4 Arnie, Hottoys breaks the news that they will be doing 1/4 scale Avengers figures. lol.

Russian spammers :lecture

Bravo on the callback here!

I was looking at some of the names of the HT haters and a few of their screenames stood out to me, in particular:

-SweatychestDXbatman
-MeltySuitComedian
-RougePupilsDX_Joker
-Bobblehead_SilkSpectre

and last but not least:

[email protected]

I have no idea what any of this means, but I think there are clues in there somewhere guys.

For some odd reason, I keep hearing the voice of the "City Wok" guy from South Park whenever I read comments from this guy :lol

"Hottoys Dislike"
Dear Hottoys,
You only show off what you have or what you did!! But no response of failure CA~ your sales just said that similar or not~ it's depends on your personal feeling, what do u feel brother? Did the sales represent your company or this is Business Owner - Howard wants to give us the reply? Pls be response~

Higher prices & lower quality control... are we as consumers suppose to like and support this?

Maybe these are legitimate groans of growing number of unhappy customers that HT refuses to acknowledge.

Indy is a perfect example, concerns on day one of seeing the prototype... went completely unheard.

The same can be said for Sideshow with regards to some of their of their past & recent offerings as well.

Man I hated Indy at first and had no intention of buying him.

But after seeing all the different pics and video reviews I'd have to say he is actually a pretty decent figure and cant wait to add him to the collection.

And to be honest I don't think that there is any figure we have been given the opportunity to own from any of the manufacturers look 100% like the character they're supposed to be.

This HT bashing is done in my eyes if a figure looks like crap I'm just not going to buy it.

Because at the end of the day its only a ____in toy and isn't worth the stress

Also these haters of HT work, lets say over the last year, have they bought any of HT earlier figure like the first BD terminator or any of the Aliens line.
those figure were no where even close to accurate but they are still great figures,no where near the caliber of HT today.

Haters gonna hate so let the babies have their bottle

Im not perfect I've hated on figures but I've eaten some humble pie with a tall glass of STFU.

Especially with Indy and if I had the money I would probably get captain America and the exclusive batman as well.
