Thanks to everybody who participated over the last several weeks. I have had fun coming up with the pairings and seeing the results. My apologies to those who didn't like the match ups, or didn't get to see their favorite character included. (See below...)

As promised, there is a prize in this final week. I have a Revenge of the Sith Deluxe Clone Trooper mini-bust from Gentle Giant that will be shipped free to the person who posted response #42 (Don't Panic!) in this week's thread. Looks like that person was...

:fireworks BANNISTER!!! :fireworks

So Bannister, if you would be so kind as to PM me with your mailing address I will get your clone out to you. If you like, I can also send you a red crayon, which will allow you to turn it into a Shock Trooper instead.

Now, before we say goodbye, I would also like to share some of the pairings that didn't make the final cut. Feel free to continue to discuss which saga has the greater characters based on these additional pairings, but as for now the official polls are all done. Thanks--and Happy New Year to you all!!!

Thanks Tom, it was fun!!!!

And Kurgrats to Bannister, yet another viktory for the Krusade!!!!!

2:Galadriel

3:Eowyn

4: Royal Guard

5: Jabba's Fat Dancing Chick

6:Cloud City's "Ice Cream Maker Guy"

7:The Corsair Boatswain

Well, I don't know...

I definitely prefer the one eyed Rohirrim to Ice Cream Maker guy. He doesn't run in the face of danger, he defiantly stands up to it despite his complete lack of depth perception.

Dang, I completely missed the last 2.. oh well, I would have voted for Yoda and Fett anyway. Love some of those other machups. Nice job Tom. Kind of sad to see Star Wars go down. :(

:lol True Tom, not to mention he started the fight in the first place with that quick release arrow!

Grats Bannister, your prolific use of :rock payed off. :D

Congrats to Bannister!!

Some of those would have been fun votes.

You can't go wrong liking these two stories really and liking both as I do. I feel like a double winner. :D

:lol :lol :rotfl

I wonder who would win here. Papanoida I would guess.

Thanks for all the fun for the last 15 weeks, Tom! I can't believe 15 weeks flew by that quickly. Awesome job!

Thanks for the polls Tom. They were fun. And, I am glad LotR came out on top.

One ring to rule them all!

Congrats Bannister!

Congrats Bannister!

Hey Tom, I really enjoyed the polls every week. Thanks for keeping us entertained. I think the Emperor vs. Sauron would have been a good one for us to debate.

One more thing: The Ice Cream Maker Guy.

I think the the literary background of LOTR can't help but produce richer characters with more depth. If you add the depth from Tolkien to the cinematic sensibilities of PJ then you have great movie characters. Lucas also gave us some great archetypal characters, but they don't quite stand up to LOTR in terms of depth and character development. It is interesting to see the parallels between the two sagas--both creators understood the basics of mythical storytelling and the various character types needed to produce a good saga. I would argue that Lucas had the tougher job--I think it would be more difficult to create compelling and memorable characters in a few moments of screen time compared to hundreds of pages in a novel, where you can go into great detail about their thoughts and back stories. It's always a challenge to show what a character is thinking or remembering on screen. PJ had the benefit of all that information and depth from the novel when bringing the characters of LOTR to the big screen.

Yeah, but really in the OT it was the other guys that Lucas let direct that I think gave them life. His writing ability pretty much sucks and I think that's why in the PT you can see it where people feel it's weaker than the OT. Tolkien new how to write and PJ knew how to bring it to life and not fix what wasn't broke while adding some of his own strong writing into parts that where changed. I believe PJ, Fran, etc are better writers than Lucas by a mile. Hence why I think LOTR is the stronger of the two when you also factor in Tolkien.

Wonderful job on these polls!!! I've really enjoyed participating and reading everyones responses.

Even though as a SW fan I'm a bit dissapointed I can respect the outcome. But I do have one question... why no competition between the ring and the force? I thought that would have been a fun one.

Agreed. How 'bout Lucas v. Jackson? I voted mostly SW the entire time, but I throw a vote Jackson's way mostly b/c George is a ******.

Come to think of it...a lot of people named George are douches. :D
