That's what I thought, but according to all the new stuff SS has been putting out its a PF.

EDIT: Here's the video SS just put out yesterday. Swamp Thing is shown off at 2:10 and it says its a PF.

Must be an error. The Sideshow card in front of the statue says maquette, and if you go to the SS site and click on Comi-Con, it say maquette for Swampy.

Surprised that he's so tall. I thought he would be more squat. This will be expensive. Lucky it's a pass for me. I've never seen the movie or read a comic. I just love that Wrightson gatefold.

Yeah that's why it was so confusing when I saw the vid.

Either way, just waiting for a price before figuring out if I want this. I've got like $200 in RP I can drop on him.

Love the sculpt, and that tiny turtle on the base is a great added detail :) Final product would surely look good considering that there are no possible proto vs final sculpt/paint issues to watch out for.

Swamp Thing is definitely the standout piece of this show. I cannot wait for it. Hope the exclusive is useless so I don't have to go through Sideshow, though I do have some points to help out.

This one has the 'Wow' factor. Congrats to all who will be buying it b/c it will sure standout in your collection.

I'm PRAYING to the old gods and the new it's under 800. Would snap this up in a heartbeat.

Love what I'm seeing here.

Now it's just to see what P1 is offering for this...but imo, by SS going the John Totleben route put this piece over the top. Quintessential Swamp Thing IMHO.

It's absolutely baffling how sideshow can produce such a phenomenal statue that is basically ripped right from the pages of the Swamp Thing Totleben run and then turn around and absolutely screw the pooch and give us a Mags and Deathstroker PF based off nothing seen in comics and that fans don't want. This MAQ is stunning and brings back memories of an excellent run in the characters history.

This is an interesting point.

See, I'd guess that the staff (concept artists, sculptors, etc.) Are fans of various properties, however not all of the people that work on a given piece are necessarily fans of that character. Some pieces are put togrther and it's work for those involved others are probably loving life.

Example, the Jesus Alien. The guy responsible for that design said in a panel that he had not interest in ever working on an alien and didn't want to do it but that's the project he got stuck on.. you know what? It showed, in my opinion.

In this example of Swamp Thing...this feels like there were some die hard behind the scenes on this one.

I never really fault a sculptor for a bad piece. IMO, it's all on the Art Director. It's on the AD if they put the wrong sculptor on a piece, allow drastic changes to a character that fans don't want to see, or let a crappy sculpt slide. The AD is always responsible in my book and has to take charge of a project that is skidding of the rails. There was a lot of love put into Swampy and it shows.

And if the AD isn't feeling the piece the rest of the team is without proper direction. =/

It can be difficult in some environments to say "no" or "I don't like it" or "wtf".
See people working with George Lucas and Phantom Menace :lol
