Hi:

Does anyone know if the T-800 Endoskeleton Life Size bust can be opened up to fix the lights?

Mine all of sudden just stopped working. Yes, I changed the batteries, three times to be sure.

There is a big rattling noise in it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Just call Sideshows customer service team, i'm sure they can shed some light on your situation. Sucks though, sorry to hear.

Maybe it's some contacts...

You know, usually I think of that. Completely forgot to do that, I will do that tonight. Thanks!

Good idea, will do that if cleaning the contacts doesn't work. Thanks!

Yeah, get in contact with Sideshow.

This is the only reason I'm a bit hesitant to buy light up stuff. Granted, most people don't use the lights all that much, but it kind of eliminates some of the 'wow' factor when the lights don't work.

I know what you mean about the hesitation. I have had a Stealth IM not light up, and now this. On the other hand, all my other light ups are cool, and yes the wow factor is there for sure. To this point, I have to say, I will continue with the light-ups. Any time I have people over I turn them all on. It is adds an extra nice touch.

... and a futher thought on jbinny comments ...

It would be a nice touch if SS would make all their light-ups so that the electrical path, and the LEDs, could be replaced or repaired.

I know it would cost a bit more from design, engineering, and production, but I think it would be well worth it. I mean look at what will happen to the value of this if I cannot get it to light up ... 50% depreciation of market value at least.

Indeed, the lights are cool. Of course we don't turn them on every minute but it's good to see they are there. Unfortunately I think when they cast/mold the statues/busts it would be more difficult for them to make removable wires. But would be cool to be able to change the LEDs and switches.

I know the old Master Replicas Millennium Falcon had some problems with lights and they weren't replaceable, but the new eFX X-Wing has replaceable LEDs.

Now I think that is a step in the right direction with the eFX. At least if the LEDs go you can replace them, mind you they last near forever.

that is my big fear too of getting statues that light up. fear of them not working one day. i just see if they are working ( and hope they do ) and then leave them off! i have been very lucky so far. but i know it will happen sooner or later. i will eventually get one that the lights dont work.

Don't be so pessimistic my friend :)

Hey, thanks for all that responded to this!

Ok, I got him working. I cleaned the contacts, but that was not the issue. I move them forward, and that did not work.

What worked was sliding a piece of metal between the battery and the positive contact, and vuola, it worked! Now the problem is to get the contact lifted up high enough to touch the battery.

Not been successful so far.

Any ideas?

I had the same problem as soon as I changed the batteries that came with the bust and put new ones it was not lighting up.
for some reason it only works with the battries sideshow provided.
I used tin foil to make the contact and they worked.
weird but it works.

Now that you mention it, that is exactly what happened to me. Once I replaced the batteries. I pulled out the SS batteries. They have a bit of a longer nose on the positive side! Those must bend the conact plate back and once you put new ones (I used Duracell and Rayovac) with a tiny bit shorter nose they don't reach.

Thanks Solidsnake. Puzzle solved.

Rattling noises are bad... :google

Sorry to hear about that. Did you manage to contact Sideshow?

Now that I figured what it is, I will be contacting SS with what I found out. Check out the pics I will be downloading in a few minutes.

Man you're from Calgary? :D Closer than I imagined, i'm glad everything worked out for you in the end!

Neighbours! Love it.

Just found out that rattling noises are fine with this bust. Apparently many have them. When SS drilled the hole for the CPU, many could not take it out of the skull, so they left it there. That is the rattling noise, lol.
