Having been a huge HK fan (all versions!), I was disappointed in the Playmates flying HK. The sculpt is great, but the painting was more basic than the SS celtic bio (slam!). So, I took it upon myself to breathe some new life into it. Using numerous metal tones ranging from pewter to chrome (all metallic based paints and liquid leafs), I present the T4 Flying HK... REBORN!

1st pic is the original out of box.
2nd pic is "In progress"
3rd pic "New" top view
4th pic "New" back view
5th pic "New" flight mode

Next up is a clear stand & base with some rubble/skulls (I'm guessing roughly 1/35th scale).

I'm thinking about hitting it with a light coat of transparent black to give it a movie accurate appearance, but I'm kind of liking the "cleaner" look. Might do another couple of these...

Thoughts?

Looks amazing, do 2 one, beat up and airborne, the other clean and in the unloading bay with a load of miniature people.

Will you be giving the Harvester a repaint as well ?

I like it! I plan to do a repaint myself. Displaying the original, untouched one next to my repaint.

That really does breathe authentic Terminator style life into it. Now you should add some darker shades of metallic and rust colors to make it fit in the T4 universe.

Considering the awesome DVD carrier Hover Craft that Hot Toys did for the Matrix, how cool would it be if they gave that much love to the DVD set of Terminator with one of these of their own.

Wow, ok man, I love the HK and I think you have just made me wanna purchase my own pair lol.

I really want a ss HK but i do not have the space to store one right now

I like what your thinking! Maybe even 2 in the bay, one with its turbines off, and some open panels... I'd love to add some figures, but I dont think I've got the skills to make any 1/32 endos though. Maybe a resistance scout peaking around the corner...

As for the Harvester, I havent even seen a pic of the figure yet, but more than likely, Yes. :D

Thanks for the compliments, I'll be adding some darker shading and rust streaks shortly. Pics to follow...

Go for it, its really a nice toy. I havent seen or heard anything on us getting any "real" statues of this (previous HKs recieved little or NO items), so this will do nicely (and cheaply too!) for now. ;)

Got to do the T-1 as well.

Hmmm... Interesting.... :idea

I've got to plug up some very visible screw holes on him, and debating on the effort/worth of making 2 new gats for him or keeping him "stock". I'll toss him onto the workbench with my second flying HK (considering that I'll be using essentially the same colors to an extent). It'll give me something to relax with during this upcoming brutal workweek... :pow :crying

Care to post a pic to the matrix dvd carrier? Thank you!

I don't know much info about it, and I don't know where the original thread is now, but here are two pics I have of it.

Been a while, but I finally finished this and added the base. I'm pleased with the results. Too bad this'll be the closest we'll ever see to a production piece of this HK.

Nice job.
I like what you did.

All we have to do now is wait 20+ years for someone to make a SS quality version.

excellent repaint work, kaijuboy. and the additon of the base really elevates it (literally and figuratively) to the level of high-end collectible...

can u post a pic of the original playmate piece as it were, so we can see a before & after? :D

Dude that's a freaking nice repaint and base, the figures have come out in europe this month hahaha, but i bought the A-10 warthog with blair, a couple of month's ago.
