Takara Jin-roh Grey version

Do any of you have both the black and German Grey versions of the Takara Jin-roh 1/6?

Here's the thing. I've had the black one for a while. One of my favorite 1/6 figures.

I got the grey version about 6 months ago and never took it out of the box. The other day - I was going through my figures and decided to crack her open.

To my surprise - I found the grey version to be a cheap imitation version of the black version.

The quality of the armor pieces on the grey is cheaper and lighter. The quality of the vinyl pants is cheaper (looks cheaper, too). And the stitching was sloppy - alot of hanging threads. The whole figure weighs considerably less and she doesn't stay posed as well as the black version.

For a bit - I thought maybe I got duped into buying an knock-off.

If any of you have the grey - or both: Can you tell me if there is a noticeable difference between the two?

I'll try to take comparison pics, though it's hard show the cheap material - except for the pants.

I have both but they are buried in my toyroom somewhere, If I get the chance I will opull them out and look to see if there's any difference

I dont believe they did any knockoffs tho but seeing how good some knockoffs are these days it's tough to say..

It was a noticeable difference. I actually felt hurt - lol.

I'm pretty sure it's not a knock-off. I'm just worried that Takara had them produced at different facilities and I was just unlucky enough to get one from the "cheap" factory

I have both and they seem the same to me. I don't think there is any quality difference between the two. In fact, I prefer the grey version due to color being a very dark grey.

Aw, man! Even the pants? The pants on my grey is a thinner vinyl so it looks too bunched up around the crotch area. And I compared the plastic on the armor pieces and there's a definite difference in thickness. You can hold the grey pieces up to the light and the light penetrates through. Even the strap on the gun is thinner - it was all wrinkled up in the box.

I'm telling you - either mine is a really good knock-off - or like I said - it happened to be from a lot that was produced at a shoddy factory.

Oh, well. I still like the figure.

Oh, believe me - I'm not of the MIB crowd. I open every figure I get pretty much right away and modify pretty much all of them in some way.

I keep the boxes cause they make it so easy to store and to pack when moving.

With this one - I kept in the box simply because I already had the black on display.

I figured it would be identical in every way to the black - except be grey. Was I surprised. hehe

That's a good point there. Just to detect abnormalities as described here (although I doubt this will happen with SSC 12" figures), and damage, I agree: open, check accurately, and then... I put them back in the box. It's either that, or face an unpleasant surprize on the day you decide to open it.

I'd love to have this Takara Jin-Roh, Grey or Black, but since it's an import, it's pretty expensive. And the only place I know where to get it is on the Evil Bay. I try to avoid that place as much as I can. So, if anyone has a tip on where it can be bought for a descent price, preferably in Europe somewhere... Thanks in advance.

I really want a Takara Jin Roh version. I have the Medicom Jinroh one (Fuse) and the DRAGON human head Panzer Cop one. I wanted to get the ligh-up eyes one but my supplier was sold out and I've been too lazy to follow up ever since.

I love my Jin-roh (both of them). Honestly - I wouldn't have returned the grey one even if I had opened it right away - which is what I usually do.

The figure (both) is frikking cool. I just expected the same materials as was used for the black version is all.

BTW: Takara is planning at least 3 more Jin-roh figures for this line - including one or two male figures and chamo versions. Should be pretty neat. hehe

D*MN! That is a sweet figure! Looks like I will have earmark this purchase.

I love the back unit on this one. I'm glad they included some design variations. Was worried that it would simply be a guy body witht he same parts as the first two figures.
