That Star Wars theatre is nice. The other theatre is nice too, but like others have said, a little too gaudy.

I've always like Steve's set-up. Nice guy too.

The "Death Star Theater" is even better in person. It sounds as great as it looks.

While Steve's theater is more attainable, the Death Star Theater is so far on the exotic end it's unreal! Haven't seen pdx's set-up, but I love Gru's (although, I have some nit picks ;) ). One of the best presentations I've seen for an HT.

Louie,

So you are lucky enough to have actually been in the Star Wars themed HT? If so, please share some details about it. It's in Seattle or somewhere thereabouts if I remember correct. I would love to check that place out in person and I can't imagine how good it looks/sounds as I know the gear is top-notch. The article in Robb Report mentioned they have Meridian speakers which are like $30k per set and I know the rest of the equipment was equally impressive.

Yeah, it's an all Meridian system. IIRC, they made a few upgrades after installation, but I'm not sure what. Standing in it, it feels more like an auditorium than a theater, but it is very quiet. You can't hear any outside noise at all. Its location is in the NW, but I'm not allowed to give any other info than that.

I just pulled out that Robb Report article from 2004 and it says the system is all Meridian audio(aside from a couple of Lexicon components) with a Runco projector and 130" Stewart screen. BIG BUCKS on both the audio and video side. Factor in the cost of the actual theater construction, the life-size SW replicas & everything else and I'd guess the whole thing cost $250k minimum and possibly as much as $500k. All I can say is that you're one lucky bastard to actually have gotten inside that place. Without divulging any secret information can you at least say if you actually got to watch a movie in there and if so, what was it? My first guess would be.............yeah, I think you know. :D

I like that SW HT room! But the other is, as said before, very tacky in my eyes.
It all comes down to taste obviously, everybody's is different. But sometimes not.:lol
