Dilution to a point. Obviously LFL has always been a market whore, but I'm sure no one wants two sixth scale 3POs on the market at one time, from the same company no less.

I don't have any inside information, so I could be wrong of course. For a release in 1 year it means prototypes would have been shown up to a year ago and pre-order would be up now. For a release in 2 years we'd probably be hearing more solid information by now, probably with some sneak-peak stuff. And again, Sideshow co-designed and co-developed and co-released THIS 3PO - why on earth would they be working on another one for release within 2 years? Even if it's completely different, with weathering and the like, I think 3 years is the absolute minimum amount of time we're looking at.

And after al that... Who cares? Everyone that owns THIS one seems to say it's the ULTIMATE. What will be improved upon? A sitting 3PO? Useless. How many times did he sit down in all 6 current movies? twice? three or four times maybe? The most memorable is in the Ewok village and that's hardly what most collectors would care about.

Besides, this is the thread for THIS 3PO, speculation about a different 3PO is kind of off-topic.

Agree. IF Sideshow decides to make a plastic, less expensive variant (weathered, etc.) of Threepio, we probably won't see him for another few years. They're just now getting around to doing a second Vader. How long since the original? 4 years?

i wouldn't mind seeing a weathered Tamashii set of droids... and perhaps SSC can tackle C 3po's Episode I incarnation.

Although I have no interest is an EP.1 Threepio I really love to see Tamashii tackle it.

I'd also live some one to have the ***** to weather their Tama Threepio.

This is AWESOME, sweet display.

Still not sure when I'll pick mine up, but I'll post pictures up after I weather it. It's not much of a big deal if you use materials that can be easily removed.

Tamiya weathering kits applied with a wet cotton wool bud/brush would work well, used it on my medicom one and it looked spot on. Sticks on but can be wiped off if you try

Gonna have to ask for a source for that.

Cool. do we know what exactly sideshow did, other than put their name on the box, and loaned out the liscense? Or which of their sculptors and artists worked on it? Becuase their names are odly missing from the product listing, unlike all their in-house releases.

Becuase I'm pretty sure that a huge deal was made about the Bandai designer pouring over tons of photos to get the detailing on the figure as accurate as possible when he was designing it ;)

"Manufactured by: Sideshow Collectibles and Tamashii Nations"

What more do you need? It's not a mere distribution type situation here. When it was displayed at con shows it even had a "Heroes of the Rebellion" label. Does someone need to spell it out for you with employment ledgers and fingerprints? :dunno

Mostly just personal curiosity at this point. Given that we know it was designed in-house by bandai, I'd like to know what sideshow did on it.

They've stated for years that they have been developing the droids. Did they simply give up the ghost, and hand all their preliminary work over to bandai?

is it a full on colaboration, or more like the enterbay X medicom deal, where enterbay makes the head, and medi does the rest.

I am just feeling snarky this morning. I would like to know all those details as well. Talking to some SSC peeps though gave me the definite impression that this may be "it" for the SSC droids.

I'd DEFINITELY like to know that one way, or another. Even with as much as I Loathe Diecast, If I knew that was infact the case, I might be willing to swallow my distaste and get this guy.

Allthough, as a followup, lets see what happens with Grevious, as he seems infinitely more complicated than 3PO.

No, the more i think about it, the more i wanna say that I think sideshow will EVENTUALLY get around to making one in-house. say circa 2016-2020 or so.

The description does state that it was engineered by Tamashi, so I think you are probably right. Licence + $ = Sideshow's part in the development.

it would be nice to know i suppose but what i do know for sure is i will never need another c3-po..............:lecture

I had trouble concentrating on watching Dexter because my eyes kept wandering off to the right of the screen to look at C3PO. :lol
