To people who ordered from HLJ:

Did you have to pay custom fees? Any difference using fedex or EMS as fedex is a little cheaper?

I've never paid a customs fee ordering from japan, US doesn't have to pay customs for toys imported from other countries.

Fedex is great. ems might be a smidge quicker but I really like that they added fedex. Ems will just route through your local usps and get delivered by them.

It looks like the Neca Gizmo to me.

I thought it could have been only because I'm not aware of any other company that's done Gizmo in that size and detail. I might have to go on a hunt for one - the alternative would be spending a couple hundred bucks on medi's prop-size one.

It comes up really nice in pics, and I've always been tempted - especially once they re-released it... but... well there's the Fullaction figure. I'd have to think about then too, and well, I passed on Vader to pick up a couple of Breaking Bad customs in a month or two, and then the 1/6 Game of Thrones license started looking good, and I've got the Asmus Gandalf figure on PO... and Batman and Robin, but the Batmobile won't be cheap and...

Thanks for all the compliments guys! :)

Yep. Thats the NECA Giz. Necas Gremlins line is excellent. The sculpts, the paint. They've made a few Gizmos. The regular which is pictured, Rambo Gismo from part 2 ( which i also have), one with a santa hat, sad Gizmo etc. They've made all the other Mogwais too. I also have Mohawk, but that's it. The only thing is they have wonky movable eyes. They come with a tab in the back to keep yhe eyes in place while in the package, so I just set the eyes where I want and use the tab to "lock" them in place. Otherwise they'll jiggle all around.

WTF Sideshow?! No Chewbacca I get, but why avoid R2? And screw you Medicom and your insufferable 1/7! And Bandai, well... damn! A pox on all your houses!

The medi gizmo is spectacular. It is one of my favorite pieces! Don't stay on the fence too long though. If this release is anything like earlier ones, the prices will climb!

Is this a medicom r2 in picture and tamashii c3po? I'm trying to find a reference picture to see the scaling differences.

Yeah that's what I thought. Medi's R2 does look really undersized. I don't think I like Taito's because it's too clean and the blue color looks wrong. Really want to buy this C3PO but can't find the right R2 to display him with.

Well factor cost. The Taito R2D2 can become extremely suitable if you have the dome sanded and have the body repainted. Doing that would be cheaper than getting the undersized Medicom version.

For me... I am totally content with the Taito out of the box until something better comes along... and who knows how long that will be.
