Just a quick question. Mine has some oily black smudges in the finish (they look like fingerprints) has any used anything to clean their figure? I don't want to use anything that may damage the finish.

Just take a soft cloth and give it a wipe. I think they all come with a layer of oil on them, probably to preserve the shine and finish while in transit. As long as whatever you wipe it with is not abrasive, you should be fine. And maybe a cloth that is not too lint-y either.

You might want to wipe down the entire figure anyway because that oily film does tend to hold on to the dust.

Thanks for the reply Mad Old Lu. I see what you mean about the oily finish on this guy but this is more like a grease stain or something. I have included pics to show what I mean.
Its the marking on the head that I am trying to show.

Hmm. Yeah, that is different. Not sure what could be done about that. You could try and contact the seller and see if they can exchange it for you. Or at least give you some store credit.

But if you got a good deal on the figure, I would probably just live with it. It's sorta the back of the head, so it's not too visible. I'd be wary of trying anything too drastic to try and take those blemishes away. You could end up taking off the finish altogether if you try polishing too much, or even leaving a spot with a different level of shine in the place of the blemish.

Maybe with a damp/wet cloth and a tiny bit of dish soap? If that doesn't work or gently rubbing with a soft cloth isn't helping, then I say leave it.

Good luck. Let us know what you end up doing.

I got a great deal on him from Hobby Link. $250 shipped from Japan to me in Ireland. Average price over here is about $600. It was a bargain so I'm still very happy with it. I might try a damp / wet cloth and see how it goes. I'm reluctant to try anything too harsh in case I do damage the finish.
He is still an amazing figure regardless of these little blemishes.

I've been seeing a lot of talk here and there about a SS 3PO. I caught up on this thread and skimmed around others and can't find any solid info ob it or a dedicated thread. Is this fact or speculation?

I was hesistant at first too. But after 'locking' the feet sideways and reposing 3PO slightly leaning back, he displays perfectly. The stand has never left the box since. :)

Yeah, that is the perfect clumsy pose without risk of falling. No need for the stand which I always hate.

Cool. More good news. Just like all figs it's all about finding that perfect balance but it's good to here that he can maintain it

Congrats to those who manage pick this figure up at that bargain price. It's one of my very favourites.

Oh yea, congrats to those who were able to score that steal!! I thought I scored when I got mine for $270. Good stuff!

It's in the SS R2 thread. "confirmed" in a sneaky noncommittal way by SideshowAlex.

Ahhh, I saw the subject thrown around in that thread but I didn't catch Alex's post. Like a bunch of others said I'd get that one too, especially now that we can be pretty confident that it will be a reasonable price.

I actually think that SS has a solid shot of putting out a better product than the Tamashii. I love this piece but I'm not overly wowed by diecast, or the heft, or whatever else. This is my first diecast 1/6 fig (Iron Patriot and Robo to follow) and don't see the allure. I'd be just as happy or happier if the 3 pieces mentioned were plastic like usual. Don't get me wrong, it's cool and I appreciate what the diecast is all about but I almost see it as more of a hazard than a aspect of quality. I think equal or greater quality can be achieved with ABS
