Yeah no offense but some of these threads are not just “hundreds of pages” but are years of speculation and chatter, which is all for your viewing. Asking others to give a brief summary is a bit much. Turn back a few pages and read when the pics start showing up. That’s where most of the figure breakdowns are.

The tamashii r2 is far superior in quality compared to the hot toy one.

I have seen 5 examples where the blue paint on the dome of r2 was ****** looking . I know the tamashii has rivets but it honestly does not bother me . I think the feel and weight of it are superior to the HOT TOYS one, but will see how it compares to the new Deluxe Hot toys r2 i guess!

The new HT is 60% die-cast in the dome only, so it will be about the same weight as the TFA R2. I agree having both, the Tamma is in my opinion a better R2, rivets be damned.

If it wasn't for the dome, I would have kept the Tama, but I couldn't deal with the finish on the plastic. Wasn't crazy about the slots to open the panels either. Rivets don't bother me at all.

Perhaps there will be a way to Frankenstein's monster a HT chrome dome with the Tamma. I really like a bright white overly glossed R2, so hoping the new HT has a much lighter body than the TFA release. More like a classic white R2 and not something that looks like it was used as a corner urinal for 20 years while Luke was away.

I think someone on the boards was doing just that -- can't recall which thread or if it worked out. I think it needed a fair bit of modding to get there. The shape one the Tama dome is actually better than both SSC's and -- I think -- HT's TFA R2.

Agreed on the classic white R2. HT weathering can be heavy-handed so we'll have to wait and see.

The Tama R2 does look pretty damn good in that shot above, and much better than the HT. I think I might have eventually bought one if HT hadn't announced their newer version which so far looks to be the best one yet.
