Wow dude! That looks fantastic! Awesome build so far.

Thanks, Chris. I'm terrified to start the inside, then I still have to complete the roof and attach it. I'm holding off until I figure out my complete lighting layout and interior design and choice of media for the interior walls.

Also, I had to sand down a few areas in their entirety and do it over. I found it looks best if you do one base coat, flat, then do the knock down.... (1) time only.

Here's some of the up close shots.

I second that. Holy smokes, you're making me wanna finish my Kenobi dwelling.... Great work!!!!

Nathan

Thanks my bruthas. Much appreciated. I'm going for it, in some cases not exactly sure where I am headed. I juste wanted to try and make something to compliment my Marmit's and C-3PO.

I've also been working on little things to add to the room to light it up and look add to the complexity...here's some things I created to add color.

Nathan, you should totally finish that, friend. I would love to see your progress pics too. I was thinking how cool a Kenobi dwelling would be, especially now that that guy made the chest he kept Luke's light saber in. Did you see that one?

OK, been working on the weathering and testing to see the color I am going for. Also worked on the interior floor and painted the first coat on the door, which you won't see until it's done. It's the wrong color right now.

Wow. Man, the paint job looks very close to the Archway environment. Love this thing. Can't wait to see its final stage.

I'm trying to make it look like that one scene where the droids were hiding in that room and the imperial troops just missed them, cuz R2 locked the door.

Here's the unfinished door:

my kids and I have been watching Star Wars every night before bed. We do about a half an hour then it is bedtime. Anyways I know the scene you are talking about and I just gotta say that you are spot on here. at least to my eye you are doing great!

Ha ha, that's cool. We did a 6 day marathon and did one a day. But I should have done 12 day, each movie twice.

As for the scene..thanks. I'm working on the door...trying to give it a good weathered fade. It's hard..and I didn't totally nail the color.

Here's the WIP.

It's even harder to capture from the outside.

A bit of fine pastel/chalk dust put on with a make up brush (really fine so no brush strokes) might do it, you have it all looking perfect at the moment so whatever you do will work I'm sure lol

I don't know jack about pastels.:lol I'm going to have to look into that. Sounds like a much easier solution. Thanks, my friend.

Unless you fix it with a clearcote or fine hairspray (but hairspray on this scale will leave splotches) it could still be rubbed off, but on that surface hopefully you need so little, it could still be used without having to fix it. It would remain in the nooks and crannies (should do) and rubbed into the texture of the orange paint.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Just get it into the cracks and keep my fingers crossed. Where do I buy that stuff?? ebay??

any craft store or stores like walmart carries pastel chalk. you can get sets that carry just the basic colors to some that have up into 40 pieces or more. just take a razor knife or something similar and scrape off into a cup or something. i use those little plastic sample dishes. anyway here's an example pic of pastel chalk.......

great stuff for weathering............especially desert stuff

when i did my sandtrooper last week, i used some really rough grit sandpaper and collected it in a baggie(which doesn't help you with your walls, etc)...then i sprayed my stuff with a quick shot of fresh paint and threw them in the bag..tossed them around and let them sit in it for a bit...then took them out and sprayed a quick coat of hairspray on them to seal it..seems to have worked so far..
maybe that will give you some ideas for yours...

and with the hairspray and the chalks on the armor..it actually has a bit of a texture to it...kinda did that on accident..lol
