I thing it's a decent Character dichotomy to work with, but not novel in any way.
Any Character you may meet in this franchise COULD be from the future, but it allows for tension, mystery and conflict and that is a good thing.

The Terminator:
A human-looking, apparently unstoppable cyborg is sent from the future to kill Sarah Connor; Kyle Reese is sent to stop it.
Terminator 2:
The cyborg who once tried to kill Sarah Connor must now protect her teenager son, John Connor, from an even more powerful and advanced cyborg.
Terminator3:
John Connor is now in his 20's, and a female terminator, called T-X or Terminatrix, is after him. Another T-101 is sent back through time to protect John once again on the verge of the rise of the machines.

John meets Marcus

Now , I don't like the direction they are taking with this. This whole gay love story sounds a little weak.
I only have little faith as bale is involved , I don't think series will ever touch T.1 or T.2 .
It may pass T. 3 in my books though.
I for a fact know bale will be a better connor than the dude in part 3.

Meh after the crap that was T3 i cant say im botherd on what way next they will distroy the terminator name.
My god i wish just sometimes they whud leave the classics alone. Tho i spose while they cant stop as im sure its another cash camel for them
If they cant remake a film they make stupid sequels...
