Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

Because it sounds like a joke that would have been made in Back to the Future 2 (Jaws 19) or one of the Robocop fake commercials back in the 80s and the high water mark for action films but instead it's the real plot of a movie with Arnold as a 67 year old Terminator because Hollywood is that brain dead and the general public is that retarded.

Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

"Ugh" because criticizing stuff before you see is the cool thing to do. Movie may very well be crap, but I'll wait until isee it to judge.

:exactly:
This is a desperate box office grab just made blatantly obvious. They would've been better off just using him as a human in a prequel who tries to save Sarah's parents and inspires the look of the T-800. That's an age-appropriate role. This is something a 3-year-old would come up with. "How do we make a Terminator with Arnie in it?" "Make the Terminator old too?" :lol This looks to rank below T:S. :(

Let me guess, you're the "general public?" :lol

The T-800 is an infiltration unit, may be Arnie is going to infiltrate a retirement home?

I just don't see why it's bad. It's actually logical. He made it clear in T2 that it was organic tissue over a robotic endoskeleton, and he looked older in T2 than he did in the original Terminator. This far, I haven't heard anything that's made me think this movie has the potential to be anything other than awesome. Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke as John Connor, JK Simmons, and a plot that involves time travel elements and revisiting the first two films. Thus far, this seems like a better film on paper than either of the previous two.

Well, why would they upgrade the T-800 when they are consistently putting out new models? If John Connor's part of the rebellion, he probably takes whatever he can get his hands on, and, if that means a few obsolete T-800s, I don't see how that's stupid. :dunno

Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

It is a plausible explanation for why a T-800 could look so much older.....there's only the question of whether its something any of us need or want to see.

It's bad because one of the main characters is going to spend the majority of the movie coated in CGI to make him look 35 years younger. That's pretty horrible right off the bat.

Given the way they're explained, I'd imagine the skin doesn't age so much as decompose during the T-800's 150 year lifespan. The "aging" doesn't make any sense from any standpoint.

That's very true. I don't know, I guess the reason why I want to give Arnie another chance is not dissimilar to the reason I want another Indy with Ford; I'd like to see these guys leave their respective franchises on a high note. T:S was decent, but nothing special, and T3 was the apple that fell far from the tree that was T1 and T2. From what I've heard, it seems like they're using this one as a means to sort of reboot the franchise (a "requel" of sorts), I guess I just don't see why that has to be a bad thing.

They talk about revisiting the original films, are you sure they won't just be manipulating stock footage?

How so? T2 Arnie looked older than T1 Arnie, and T3 Arnie looked older than T2 Arnie, and they're all the same model; seems pretty cut and dry to me.:dunno

Wasn't the T3 a T-850?

Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

Old Arnold sends himself back in time to stop himself from banging the maid but the Terminator just joins in instead so he has to keep sending more and more robots back. It's like Multiplicity but with Time Travel.

His bastard son looks enough like him that he could play the younger T800. :lecture
I know it's harsh, but I couldn't resist.

Re: Terminator 5 - Shooting Jan 2014

It's a shame all the greatest imaginations available are stuck on message boards the world over, relegated to simply reducing every actress to some porn fetish and tearing every upcoming movie apart based on everything imaginable.
There is no justice in the world. :(

I wasn't a fan of Salvation or 3 so much, but it'll be worth a shot I think.
