As I understand it, this film goes into the events of the first 2 films like BTTF 2, showing new characters interacting with either previous footage or newly shot footage to match what's already shot. It will be paying homage, showing things we didn't see like the T-2000 killing the Voights, before going off in its own direction.

It will also have multiple cyborgs, including Byung Hyun Lee.

Vukovich from T1 is back, this time played by JK Simmons.

James Cameron has seen storyboards and production art, and has said what he has seen looks great.

Arnie looks as good as you could possibly expect there. Seems likely they're going with leathers again though. I don't consider this a good thing. Change it up FFS. All he had was a leather jacket in the first film and even that only halfway through the film. Why is it that ever since T2 he needs to be in full biker gear the whole time? That's pandering to audience nostalgia rather than trying to be in some way, y'know, plausible.

Might be time for Arnold to go bald, just shave it off.
It's the best thing he could do to reinvent himself that and get some of his muscle tone back.
He looks like a retired Phys Ed teacher.

So is Lee going to be a T-1000?

I just don't see Simmons as Hal Vukovich, unless they were going for a younger version then they should keep Lance Henricksen.

I'm certainly intrigued if it's doing a BTTF 2 sort of thing with the first 2 films but A) that could be bullcrap or B) it might play out as weakly as the TX reprogramming the T-850 in T3, totally wasting the potential of the concept.

And I wouldn't read anything into Cameron 'liking' the storyboards and production art - what else is he gonna say when his friend Arnie shows him what he's working on.

Cameron did say he liked TS..and I did alot- very underrated film far better than T3.

Arnold could look better if he wanted.
He's lost that fire in the belly.
He traded it in for pushing pencils in the California capital and chasing Latina maids around the mansion when Maria was out.

Ya know this could all be saved if it was just a T-800 skeleton with arnie's voice. Not like anyone cares about laws of time travel when Skynet is assassinating future leaders in T3.

Silly looking jacket, I will assume therefore its exactly what he'll wear in this film.

Technically it makes sense for a Terminator to wear tough clothes. The problem is that was never explicitly written into the films - the leathers having a practical purpose. They keep putting him in leather because that's the public image of Arnie as the Terminator but within the narrative of the movies we're expected to believe its, what, purely coincidence that he happens to arrive in the past next to a biker bar each and every time now? Come on. At least have him find some regular clothes initially before finding something more suitable later.

Arnold looks old there, too old to play a terminator but I'm sure move magic will help it along. Oh and Lee Byung Hun is playing a terminator? I never saw that one coming.
