:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl yet another great thread. i'm glad everyone on the forum can but thier differances aside and unite for a cause :clap

I've bought 5 items from you and when family and friends come over and see them and I tell them how much I paid they say "You paid that much for that?!" I've never got a good reaction from anyone once they hear the price or your so called "artwork", all they do is tell me I must be crazy for paying that much for some clay and you know what maybe I am.

Just do what I do. Either lie to them or PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE.

And in response to the name of the thread,

That's it...I've had it.

What are ya gonna do?

I tell all my friends and family that I sculpted everything myself. They then say I could easily charge thousands of dollars for that kind of stellar craftsmanship. I then come clean and tell them who actually produces these pieces and that I generally only pay $200-$300 a statue. In the end, it looks like I got a great deal!

:D

I will say that it would be a good idea for them to put a lot of their items on sale (meaning more than 10%) which would help clean out their storeroom a lot but they have obviously decided that having those items (like the Blackbeard PF) in their warehouse for another year is better than selling it for $100 less now. And if thats their decision then we have to live with it.

I think the mindset is that Sideshow does not want to be seen as a company that has clearance sales or end of year sales because their product is good enough to never have to warrant such sales. If there were such sales, people would hold off on regular price purchases until these expected "sale days" begin to surace. I know I would. Sideshow wants to protect the value of its pieces even if it means hoarding piles of it in their warehouse. I can understand that.

Also, if people come to believe that Sideshow pieces can be had for cheap, its rep might be tarnished, even if slightly. It might never recover from that sort of fan perception, which generally suggests that retail costs are for suckers. For example, Bowen will likely never rebound from its rep which often suggests that so much of its product can be had for 30-50% retail shortly after release. As its generally viewed as a cheap product by the fanbase, less people are willing to pay retail because the perception is there that the price will soon plummet. Thing is, not all Bowen product is sub standard. Some of it is actually good.

Yeah, all of that makes sence but for things that have been around for a couple years why wouldn't they just want to blow them out. Just about everything else you buy goes on sale at some point too. I paid full price for my Blackbeard and I am more than happy with him so if they "dumped" the rest out at $300 I'd be ok with it.

Sideshow probably had some stats that show if they keep things around long enough that a high percentage enough of them sell.

What the...why is this thread so popular? We get it dude, your cheap and no one understands you. Time to start looking for a new hobby.....like drinking.
