Well, I saw this last week, and have been stewing on it for a while to ensure that my thoughts on it (either way) weren't based on a knee jerk immediate reaction to the feeling of watching a movie that I have been waiting a long time for.

But, the overwhelming feeling is "The Batman" is simply one of the greatest movies I have ever seen.

Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson have achieved something that I feel I have been waiting my whole life for; a brilliantly faithful, accurate, creative and incredibly entertaining adaptation of the Batman character and his world.

The atmosphere, the design, the characterisation... everything is perfect. Robert Pattinson IS the Batman.

Keaton will always hold a special place in my heart, but he has been dethroned by Pattinson.

Oh and everything about the introduction of the Batmobile and the ensuing chase was just *chef's kiss*.

This is the one that doesn't belong.

Loved the ending, very poignant and a great bit of character development.

The final scene in the movie isn't as brightly sunlit as this concept art anyway, it was barely sunrise. The "dawn" of his new calling, after his almost literal "rebirth" and "baptism" after rising from the floodwater with the flare.

Plus, he will still be "Fear" for the criminals of Gotham, but no longer "Fear" for the good citizens too.

I love The Batman as much as everyone else but guys GUYS you have to understand that great success for Warner Brothers is not the same as great success for Marvel.

Doctor Strange 2 and Thor 4 are easily going to be massive hits for Marvel.

Let me make this very clear Marvel has not been knocked down anything lol

Have you compared total box office between the 2 studios it’s not even a contest.

Oh come on... a little competition never hurt anyone... except entitled incels.

Who would have thought that Superman and Batman would be the Davids against the MCU's Goliath.
A David that failed.

MCU is alive and well.

NWH 93%-98%

TB 85%-88%

NWH box office will not be surpassed by TB.

Goliath still walking proud lol

Don't be too proud of this financial terror they've constructed. The ability to destroy a box office is insignificant next to the power of great cinema.

I said audience score not box office :tap

Remember just because The Batman is a near masterpiece, and boy is it, does it automatically mean that NWH is fluffy nonsense.

I had some pretty powerful emotional reactions in NWH 6 to be exact!

1. Seeing them again
2. Aunt May’s death
3. All 3 swinging together
4. Garfield catching MJ
5. Tobey Peter stopping Holland Peter from killing Goblin
6. Seeing MCU Spiderman in classic costume with no Stark attachment.

NWH was very fulfilling.

As was TB!

I also experienced some great visceral connections to TB as well but let’s not all of a sudden pretend now that NWH is trash.

I am not asking for permission to enjoy 2 movies in one year lol

I'm mostly having fun paraphrasing Vader LOL ... but I do mean it when I say that personally I don't care if the film is popular with mass audiences or made lots of money. I don't think those are always accurate metrics as to the artistic merit of a film, although granted audience scores mean more than box office.

I don't think NWH is trash, but it's more of a formulaic product and in spite of some charming moments, it lacks the atmosphere and artistry on display in The Batman.

1. Seeing them again
Cool.
2. Aunt May’s death
Weirdly flat for me.
3. All 3 swinging together
Cool enough.
4. Garfield catching MJ
A little heavy-handed but sure.
5. Tobey Peter stopping Holland Peter from killing Goblin
Not bad.
6. Seeing MCU Spiderman in classic costume with no Stark attachment.
Finally.
NWH was very fulfilling.
Much more so for you than me. But that's fine.

It's not something I would directly compare to The Batman, like they're not even the same thing for me. It's like the MCU has turned into a long running sitcom with this massive cast, whereas The Batman felt like a proper film to me.

LOL ... nor do you need to.

I can watch the entirety of The Batman again even with its 3 hour run time. I can only watch the last half of NWH. That was the only interesting part and was very dependent on nostalgia and fan service. There's good story telling and then there's eye candy.

Loved no way home to. I can’t choose between that and Batman
