What is the best fourth film in a series?

Phantom Menace is a prequel, and you counted it as the fourth in the series. Same main character, same series -- simple. Jackman/Wolverine is the main character in all four. I can't speak to Avengers. It hasn't been made.

Since we're being arbitrary ... I'll say Batman Begins is the best fourth movie in a series. Adam West's Batman is in a different universe ... and Batman & Robin was clearly a hoax movie made by Marvel to try to kill the Batman franchise.

Jackman was in X-Men: FC for all of 30 seconds so by your own logic they're unrelated as well then.

I think there's actually a stronger case for X-Men:FC being disconnected from the X-Men Trilogy (as a reboot ... completely different cast) than for XMO:W being disconnected from the series.

By that logic POTC: OST and Terminator Salvation should be ranked #2 and #3 in the poll then.

Nope....doesn't work that way. I never said it goes in order from newest to oldest. I'm saying that if the newest movie is "good" then it will get the votes due to how fresh it is in someone's mind. If it sucks it doesn't matter if its new or not.

My point exactly.

Interestingly enough X:FC, Goblet of Fire, and ST IV are all the highest rated as far as critic scores on rottentomatoes.com, with percentages within 1 or 2 of each other. Add in the fact that Marvel has possibly the highest fanbase here (at least compared to HP or ST fans) and that seems to be what most likely tipped the scales in FC's favor.

Pirates 4. I know many may disagree but it had the one story/one conclusion vibe of the 1st one and wasn't convoluted or dark and depressing like 2 and 3.

Not sure "X-Men: First Class" should be counted. It's a reboot with completely different cast. If that is counted, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" should be considered the 4th film and FC the 5th film. ;)

For the memories and sheer joy it brought me as a kid, Episode 1 got my vote!

Though I think Salvation and Rambo are damn good films.

Looks like the gloves have finally come off on what is really considered a sequel.

Consider yourself put on notice Khev!!!
