OK, don't everyone lash out at me all at once, but it just occurred to me that maybe we're being set up for the ultimate bait-and-switch: As Din misses Grogu and is clearly reluctant to claim the mantle of leader of Mandalore (and he is resisting becoming one with the Darksaber), could Boba Fett somehow "best" him in combat at the end of the season and claim the Darksaber? I laughed out loud typing that last part, but I could see that as a way of (a) bringing out the ruthless Boba everyone has been expecting and (b) satisfying the character's desire to be the one in charge. IDK, I could see the blade amplifying his pent up hostility & vice-versa. And probably even Boba is smart enough to realize that an army of Mandalorians (or just one, for that matter) will offer him more protection than the Mos Vespa gang. :lol
Maybe but so far I don't think this version of Boba moves fast enough. Like Mando uses his legs/feet fighting; I figure he'd just kick Boba and BF would be rolling down the street, with Jawas picking parts off him as he rolled.

Fennec maybe. :monkey3

So, we went from "Han shot first" to "Han shot second" to "Han didn't shoot at all". God help us if they do a Disney SE of the OT...
So Greedo just fell over from choking?
Next "specialized edition" will be Han actually saves Greedo from choking, with the Space-Heimlich-Maneuver, and that's why Greedo let him go.

Not a single frame.

Wow. That was.....something. Not at all what I was expecting. I don't watch previews or read rumors so I thought y'all was smoking crack that Mando would even show up for a cameo. And here he gets an entire extended solo episode.

Did the ENTIRE show's budget go to this episode?? Talk about world building!

Am I freaking nuts or did the stuntman playing Mando look just a tad paunchy in the gut? I guess I'm just so used it after all these weeks of Boba Fatt.

Lots to enjoy in this special supplementary episode of The Mandalorian. When he sliced his own thigh with the Darksaber my first instinct was "Smooth move, ex-lax!" but then I realized how dangerous those damn things would be. Interesting that it gets heavier the longer you use it. If the word DARK saber didn't give it away, this is a weapon seeped in the dark side of the Force for sure.

Loved the brief flashback of the razing of Mandalore. Good CGI...didn't look cheap.

I like that Mando's new Naboo Fighter echoes his Razorcrest with a matte silver and some yellow highlights for the color scheme. But I can't help thinking of the amenities his old ship had. Where's he gonna piss and sleep and stuff??

I know you guys don't like Amy Sedaris as the weird old Tattooine lady that does Jawas, but hey....she's "Strangers With Candy" so I can't help but like her. I think it's the wig. Give her anything but that hideous wig and she'd be more tolerable.

Feeling strange. I got all settled in, had some snacks, ready for my weekly hate-watch.....and these MFers go and give me a completely unseen Mando episode instead!! Sheesh.

If next week is about Ahsoka I am NOT watching.

The sharp quality of this episode was indeed jarring after suffering through the last four weeks. It does feel like ALL the money was spent on this cinematic treat whereas the first four episodes were fan film amateur hour.

I wonder if anyone such as Favreau will ever attempt to explain this? But I imagine these are the type of truths that Lucasfilm would heavily frown upon. I would say Morrison probably already unwittingly crossed the line when he started talking about Fett in the interview with Ming Na.

Boba’s full emasculation is complete he wasn’t even in his own titled show lol
Time for people to come to terms with the truth.
There was one Boba Fett that was Bulloch
Both these new Mando shows barrow from but neither one is that character we liked.
Morrison was NEVER Boba, not the Boba we all loved - the fleeting mysterious Blank slate character played by Bulloch in ESB.
This character is Morrison's Jango character just retraoctivley applied onto Boba, but who now goes around with his helmet off and says I'm Boba Fett mate. That's a new character.
And Djarin who keeps his helmet on is closer to what we liked, but also an all new character, with a much greater presence, quest and purpose. .

I'm holding off on watching this until my son gets home from school but does he seriously not even appear in this episode, lol.
No and Boba has never appeared in any of these eps, we've been watching Jango, mate.

^^^THIS. The new environment was insane + the cool touch of the way the light flowed over the city. Epic.

Dunno maybe Rodriguez has been doing two projects at once??? But the lack of attention to details in TBOBF compared to this episode makes TBOBF feel cheap; plus stuff like the mop head guy and modern street clothes that just don't work in SW:pfft:

One question…

Mando is no longer a Mandalorian why did the armorer allow him to keep the darksaber I thought she was going to confiscate it from him.
Well the one guy there who could (wanted to) take it from Djarin failed. so who is going to challenge, that's not in her interest?
And she tells Mando the means to get his status back.
"The living waters beneath the mines of Mandalor"
Where he'll likley awaken the suposedly extinct Mythasaur (just a guess)

There is an actual Mando thread for this, if you don't want to discus it in Bobo's thread. - The Mandalorian (Star Wars Live Action Series)

And Boba Fett will want to ride it like a Bantha, Yes?

What the actual **** was that? Are we watching Mando season 3 or Fett? Bizarre - but GREAT!

The directing/cinematography/acting/script, was soooo much better than the lame **** we've suffered through prior (although the mechanical lady bit went of for too long).

**** Fett, we already have the Fett we want in Mando.

I didn't read the whole thread. I just wanna say that this was a fun episode and a joy to watch. And at this point, it's evident ****a Fatt is not needed. The Chadalorian AKA Din Chadjarin has usurped him. ****a spends an entire series being a literal moron and unable to fight off a bunch of punks, meanwhile the Chadalorian beheads mofos in his opening scene. Hell, Space Gypsies (Jawas) were more awesome and useful in their short screentime than ****a has been in the entire series thus far. I'd say I hope ****a Fatt gets killed off at some point for being such a useless tard, but no such luck... I still remember when they were trying to sell this as "Godfather: Star Wars Edition". Please... Maybe in some Alternate Cut where we watch Fredo fumble his way through low-level jobs on some ********. I'd watch a Godfather-style Star Wars film though; but starring Maul as Sonny/Michael mix. Now that'd be awesome.

I'll be honest, if it comes down to ****a vs Bo-Katan, I'm team Bo-Katan all the way. Yeah, she's a bit of a moron too, and a ****, but she's an enjoyable firebush **** and that... that goes a long way. Seriously, it might be that I never cared for Boba all that much, but I see no reason why anyone would be Team ****a over Team Chadalorian at this point. It's not just the attitude and characterization, it's that Din has a much more interesting story too. ****a's literally a filler character. At this point I think Morrison might have better arcs playing some of the Clones in other SW projects. ****a Fatt is dead, bury him.

You know, I skipped on all Mando figures thus far (bar Luke, but you get my point), but if they continue the story in this pace I'll probably want an "endgame" Din. As Lord Mandalore or whatever. Maybe a Bo too if they revamp her costume to be more unique (that ship has sailed for me to PO her now, so I'll hold off for another chance; or just play catchup a decade from now...)

Now, APOLOGISE TO MOMMY!

With the hack Ruindriguez is directing the final episode, this BOBF show feels like heading towards the impending doom. Filoni is reportedly in charge of both writing & directing episode 6, hopefully he could deliver the same level of greatness just like he did with Ahsoka episode before the inevitable cringe returns in the finale.
So what’s the possibility in the next episode Luke teaches Mando to use the darksaber???

I thought the same when he was training with the armorer.

Next episode Boba better finds his A-Game like he did in Mando Season 2. Damn that opening of Episode 5 was how I wanted Boba to act the whole time. Still two episodes to redeem himself.

Overall great episode.

I read recently that most of Mando S3 is just the stunt guy anyway. Pedro only has to make an appearance once or twice a season and record voice work.
I'm pretty sure a lot of Mando S1/2 were stunt guys. I remember reading in the space prison episode from S1 Pedro wasn't in the suit at all that episode.

I also couldn't help but notice Din barely fire his weapons, where he used to be a shoot first, ask questions later kinda guy.

They really put the emphasis on the Darksaber and melee fighting in general, which to me goes right along with these seemingly new Disney Star Wars guidelines: brutal violence is OK as long as it's not gun violence. I expect to see more of that hand to hand, beat each other with clubs and sticks and whatever's laying around the kitchen in both Mando and BoBF going forward.

One thing I thought is how that starfighter isn't even remotely suitable for Mando. He literally can't fit a rifle in there. Just his sidearm. He can't seriously be using that ship from now on right? Grogu dome or not, that's a pretty crappy ship. No sleeping quarters, no bathroom.

But anyway Fennec still used her rifle a few times and they had the whole train sequence using guns. I do hope they don't strip Din of all his guns though.

Since this was Howard's only episode, she literally had zero sense of the rest of the show. Hell they could've just not told her anything about the rest of the show, she could've been shooting a Mando S3 episode.
