IMHO, there was a huge missed opportunity for the BOBF ( For the record, I actually liked the show, one of the few here probably)

If it was up to me, I would have left Cobb Vanth as the "fake Boba Fett". He had to live up to the legacy and notoriety of the "legend" of the famed bounty hunter and was mostly capable, but not this level of pure assassin/warrior as the original. Have TM as the mostly cameo character, as the real Fett, who is essentially retired. He doesn't want to fight anymore and he doesn't want to have assassins after him forever, so he allows Vanth to take the role. Give him the Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now role.

Timothy Olyphant has actually carried a show before. So at least you get some proven "star power" to headline the production. How far does the character need to go? Not far. Just make him Raylan Givens in a Boba Fett armor situation.

Also leave Bib Fortuna alive as the main antagonist.

Throw in Dengar, "Cammie and Fixer", Biggs Darklighter's parents and General Madine and you got plenty to work with there. Hell bring back Billy Dee Williams. Why not at this point.

It's not like it hasn't worked before. That's essentially the plot to Banshee on Cinemax.
I don’t think Billy Dee has long. He seemed real out of it at Celebration and had to read off a note to even string some sentences together. Not his usual smooth self. :(

The Patterson edit of TBOBF is an interesting watch since it draws the relevant parts from ROTJ and The Mandalorian, and stitches them into TBOBF in chronological order as a movie titled, Boba Fett - Book I: Without A Tribe.

The main idea behind this project was to see the Boba Fett show in chronological order. So we decided to split the show into 2 separate movies. I took on the first part and Pentex took on the second. Part 1 is called "Boba Fett - Book I: Without A Tribe" and it starts with a prologue from Return of the Jedi and from there it intercuts scenes from The Book of Boba Fett and both seasons of The Mandalorian. At its core, it's a movie about a group of individuals each in their own way finding themselves and building their own tribe. Part 2 is called "Boba Fett - Book II: The Name of Honor" and picking up where Part 1 leaves off, this movie is about our characters trying to do the right thing in a lawless world.

Pentax's Boba Fett - Book II: The Name of Honor is less interesting since it's King Boba and the Mods.

I've had both of those since release, but yet to watch them.

Still too soon to be reminded how bad, disappointing and off the mark BOBF was...

I have the Obi-Wan cut, but don't think I'll ever be able to watch it. I'll maybe watch the Ahsoka one as a recap if a season 2 is ever released.

Best to avoid Book II as it doesn't really add anything.

Book I contains the best parts, from the sail barge to the Sarlaac, to the Tuskens, and Boba meeting Mando in The Mandalorian and reclaiming his armour, which leads to the Dark Trooper battle and Luke's return, and the epilogue with Boba killing Bib Fortuna and taking the throne, which is a neat book end since Bib was shown on the sail barge in the prologue.

The final scene with Boba sitting on the throne and Fennec perching on the arm promised so much, yet delivered so little.

I haven't bothered get that one yet as I doubt any edit could save Obi-Wan.

I found the Ahsoka cut pretty much unnecessary as I don't think there was much fat that needed to be cut from it, and I missed some of the scenes he decided to omit. It's benefit is a faster watch in order to see the most relevant parts of the story.

While the core story remains the same, I'll vouch for the Obi-Wan edits. It's astounding how much better it is with faster, snappier pacing, less unnecessary subplots bringing it down, some clever parallels and retooling, and a stronger focus on the core characterization.

They often say that a movie really can come alive in the editing room, and Obi-Wan could have used more time in the oven, because there's a decent experience there.

I rewatched the full series a few weeks ago when I set myself the task of rewatching all the series (apart from The Acolyte). I managed OWK, TBOBF, Andor, Mandalorian season 3 (skipped the first two), and then Ahsoka.

I find OWK to be the worst (apart from The Acolyte which barely qualifies).

I downloaded the Lite version of OWK last night so I could skip through it. The sight of the Inquisitors and Obi-Wan hiding Leia under his coat was enough for me to exit and delete the file.

There's far more of interest to me in TBOBF, especially in Patterson's Book I which includes Boba's finest hours in modern times: his triumphant return in The Mandalorian and his taking the throne.

I love that Robert Rodriguez only had two rules for continuing the story of Boba Fett:

1. Don't make him a buffoon
2. Immediately ignore Rule 1
:lol
Though to be fair, the only episode where Rodriguez really had no "rules" ie barley a Favreau script, was Fett's badass Mando S2 intro, where Favreau just let Rodriguez direct and shoot what action he wanted, which he did, and most everyone loved.
Rodriguez- "...Do we need to add more pages?' and he goes, 'No, that's what you're here for! You need to fill that out.' I said, 'Oh, okay, I'll try and make that battle longer.' So that's where that extra battle came from." .... I added a lot of action."
The rest of the series, is what followed Favreau's actual full script and "rules", hence what we got. :lol

Is this scene in these edited versions?

When I try and watch these fan edits it just ends up feeling like a 'highlight reel' instead of a cohesive movie. The edit of the OWK show for example, when they cut to black as the Leia encounters the bounty hunters, the scene of her running circles around them still plays in my head.

My biggest issue was how BOBF was essentially Season 2.5 of Mandalorian. Season 2 ends with Mando giving up Grogu, then Season 3 starts with Mando and Grogu together on a cobbled-together Naboo fighter, and it's never addressed. Season 3 of The Mandalorian needs a fan edit to snip the relevant elements from BOBF into the first few episodes of The Mandalorian.

There is an edit that takes those 2 episodes of BOBF with Mando and Grogu and turns them just into one episode to watch between s2 & s3 of Mando as you said.

The Mandalorian - The Return (Season 2.5)

The Mandalorian - The Return is a cut of the Book of Boba Fett that focuses solely on the Mandalorian and his journey after Season 2 and before Season 3. It has removed all the non-related material to focus solely on Din Djarin and provides a bridge for fans who don't want to watch the Book of Boba Fett.

Runtime: 68 Minutes | NO IFDB | NO TRAILER AVAILIBLE

Intention:

Beneficial-Jacama-65 has removed all the scenes with Cad Bane, Boba Fett, Fennec Shand and Cobb Vanth. The story is focused on the Mandalorian and seeing how he got his Naboo Starfighter and his searching how to find Grogu after the events of the last episode of the season 2 of The Mandalorian.
