Did the Celtics just become the best team in the east? Allen, Pierce, and Garnett seem like they could be pretty friggin' strong together! :monkey5:monkey1:monkey5

Lets wait and see what the Celtics had to give up first. The other big question is with the contract of KG. He has one year to go then he is a free agent. Would the Celtics take a chance on getting KG for only one year then risk seeing him go to his choice - the Phoenix Suns? The only way this is a good deal for the Celtics is IF they work out an extension of the KG contract preventing him from fleeing after one year.

Even then the Celtics will be a much different team next year and chemistry is a very important thing on an NBA team. They most likely will be a better team than the last few years .... but the best team in the East? That will have to be proven over the long season.

God I hope not...they have been my favorite team since I was a kid and it has been brutal being a Celts fan ever since Len Bias blew up.:emperor

Bodie .. can you explain your feelings on this? Garnett, Allen and Pierce are a great trio to build around. What do you suspect will happen and why?

Most likely I feel things won't work out due to jealousy.. I wanted Garnett..

Aside from that...

I guess if this team does'nt make it to the finals during their tenure it will be considered a big bust..

The salary on this team should be outrageous..

Garnett could walk, unless they sign some sort of extention.. But I thought he iddnt want to go to Boston..

McHale and Ainge are dummies and everything they do will fail..

Thinking more about this.. McHale is a serious turd.. The Lakers offered a much better deal..

As did Boston prior to the draft.. And NOW McHale trades KG to Boston..

Sounds like a conspiracy by Ainge and McHale to bring the Celtics back on the map..

Minnesota and their fans get left holding a steaming pile of poop.

I for one living in Boston am tired of all the WAITING with all these young players Boston put their hopes on for the last 2 decades . I love the approach of getting some solid established players who are proven to ALREADY be able to play at a high level. I can't wait for the season to start!!!! And Yes they better get an extension on KG or else that was a high price to play for a 1 year player.

Rather than ripping into McHale and Ainge calling them names - its more constructive to look at why this deal was made. Boston is fed up with its youth movement which has not paid off for them. So now they give up the future in favor of a team built around a trio of early 30somethings. And three All Stars to boot. Why is Ainge an idiot for making this deal? I have to imagine that nearly every general manager in the league would have made this deal as Ainge did.

And for McHale - Garnett was leaving after this coming season and what would the T-wolves get for him then? Zip, nada, zilch, nothing. This way they get players and a draft choice and can build for the future.

Looks like a smart deal by both men.

The Lakers have squat to offer if you do not include Bryant which of course was out of the question.

I know its not fair to rip these guys.. Ainge did well for his team this season.. He some how got a few legends to join his team.

I dont see how this deal is better for Minne as opposed to the deal that was offered by Boston prior to the draft.. This is why I call McHale a Turd..

Call me Biased but I thought the Lamar Odom ( Mr. Triple Double), Andrew Bynum (which analysts are saying would have been the 3rd pick this year in the draft had he went to college) along w/ picks (19th and future picks) and an expiring contract (Kwame over Theo) was far superior to Bostons current deal..

I know you always lose when trading a superstar.. But I thought McHale could have done alot better.. I think he wanted Garnett to go to his old stomping grounds as opposed to anywhere else.. Regardless of the fact the Garnett said he did not want to go there..

I hope Garnett walks at the end of the season..

I change my stance, Ainge did damn well, McHale exceeds his turd reputation..

I understand your position on this. According to ESPN, it looks like KG may agree to at least give up his right to leave at the end of this season which would make him in for at least two years. Supposedly, they are talking about a couple of years on top of that. If that is true, its a good deal for the Celtics.

Its funny but the league office and media put a much higher priority on having solid NBA teams in markets like New York and Boston than the fans do. For my money I could not care less where a good team plays. Take the Phoenix Suns and have them play in Toledo and I would still watch and root for them. Same thing with the Celts when Bird was there. Its not the city its the players and team.
