Not a huge gamer now, but I will never forget the first time I saw Samus revealed when she pulled her helmet off at the end of the original. Of course all of my friends and I just assumed the character was a man. Then bam!

Me too. My first NES games were Batman and Metal Gear. My friend let me borrow Metroid for Batman because he didn't like Metroid. I played the crap out of Metroid, and when I found the "Justin Bailey" code I crapped my pants.
