Ace has been in modern comics. He was also in "Batman Beyond" and "Brave and The Bold"

I love the idea of a Beyond-esque Ace in a realistic film. It makes sense that Wayne, a person with no time for relationships or emotional bonding, could find a companion in the form of an animal that loves him unconditionally.
