*******, that's a pretty ____ing good milkshake. Don't know if it's worth 5 bucks...but it's pretty ____in good!

So the question is, is everyone less, the same, or more excited for TDKR compared to same time frame pre TDK.

I'm cautiously super optomistic/excited. :lol

Honestly, I'm probably as excited as I was for TDK, but the acceleration of that excitement has been quite different during the lead-up to each release.

For me, with TDK, the excitement started hearing Ledger's "Starting tonight, people will die..." and cackle in the first teaser in summer '07...and it stayed at a pretty constant high level until the release, only getting slightly higher when a new piece of the viral marketing or the longer trailers were released.

For TDKR there has been very high highs of excitement--the biggest personally for me wasn't even part of the official marketing campaign--it working as a GPD extra--followed by relatively quiet periods where I wasn't that concerned about it, and then the excitement spikes again when I saw the prologue, a new trailer or another bit of footage get released.

That said, neither the prologue or MTV footage was the peak piece of marketing for me. Trailer 3 is still tops in my book.

I was really really hyped for TDK, but am even more hyped this time around.

It had been a long time in waiting before TDKR was officially announced late 2010, and then following the filming in London was incredibly exciting for me.

Since then every little piece has got me more and more pumped. Trailer 2 though after the initial viewing got quite boring. However, trailer 3 was incredible, and everything since then has just heightened the excitement even more...

I really genuinely think this could be the best of the trilogy

Agreed, it's looking like all the best aspects of Nolan's Bat films so far melded into one great film.

I feel more excited about this than TDK. The thing that really impressed me with Begins to even be interested in TDK was how you went on a journey with Bruce, there was an emotional investment in it as a viewed, by the end, when Rachel tells him she can't be with him while Batman's around, I felt bad for him.

As fun and entertaining as TDK is, it lacks some of the emotion of Begins. I had big hopes for what Rachel's death would do to him and the end result was far less than I expected. It was like after a little crying, he was fine.

TDKR looks like, much like TDK, Bruce and Batman's world will be turned heavily upside, but this time, it'll all take a serious toll on him, and I think we're going to go on another emotioal journey, I can't wait.

I think that my hype for TDK was at an all time high from February to release day. It really was a matter of being in the right place at the right time. That year, I was able to attend the New York Comic Con, and I was in the main hall of the event center watching Hellboy 2 footage and waiting for the The Spirit panel (the movie hadn't come out yet, don't judge me). The Hellboy panel finally wraps and I'm just waiting to see this trailer for The Spirit. Unexpectedly, then Editor of DC Comics Paul Levitz walks onto the stage.

He tells us that he has a surprise for us. The surprise was the first theatrical trailer for TDK. The crowd was roaring, but the minute we saw Heath Ledger come on screen, it was dead silent. It was really awesome because, at that point in time, there was no footage outside of what they'd shown at C2E2 in July of 07, and that trailer was when the hype ascended to a whole other level.

Regarding TDKR, the one scene that's really stuck out to me from the MTV footage is that of the makeshift courthouse. There's always a sense of dread when civilians are alone with the antagonist of a film. Add an entire room full of hardened criminals and psychopaths to the mix, and it begins to make you that much more uncomfortable.

:( For real? I guess that's because they waited until Avengers opened in the US. That sucks. What film in the UK did the trailer premiere on, by the way?

Yeah :(

It was indeed because of the early release.
I'm not sure what film premiered Trailer 3 in the UK, as i've not seen anything at the cinema since Avengers.

Going to see Prometheus day after tomorrow probably, hoping I catch it then
