The problem Carter had was a slew of movies that stole all their ideas from it. When it finally came out, we've already seen all it offered.

JC was also victim of a regime change at Disney and they didn't support it. But aside from that, yeah they waaaayyy overestimated the appeal. Early rumors were that it would be the first live action Pixar movie. That branding would definitely have added audience recognition.

Anything would have helped the marketing for this was not to well done either. IT had a chance to do better than it did but never a 500 million dollar movie never mind the billion they thought

Biggest problem with John Carter was the title, boring and meaningless to most people. Shoulda been John Carter, Warlord of Mars. Even John Carter of Mars woulda been better.

It's not really a good thing when one company owns everything.

I for one hope LEGO can stand on their own and refuse a buyout from Disney if it ever was to come about.

DC is surely what Disney is after next. They've seen what they can do with the Marvel comics, so owning DC would have to be on their agenda.

On the upside, at least Disney seems not to be interfering too much with how the individual studios operate. They're mainly after the merchandising rights, which is where the real money is anyway.

I don't think Disney is after DC. But they'll take it when the price is right (probably sooner than later). :)

Watched Tommorowland again last night, I have to say, I enjoyed it even more than the first time. I think my favorite segment was the escape from Clooney's house, very clever.

I think the only drawback for me is Hugh Laurie, never really cared for him as an actor. Something about him just irritates me.

DC is owned by Time Warner they are not going to sell DC to a rival like Disney
