I'm surprised people care this much about a rat. I mean, yeah it's stupid and gross. But rats don't matter--not saying it's OK, I'm just saying rats don't matter.

I fed rats 6-8X this size to my python in college. He was almost big enough to eat a hamster, but then he croaked. Part of life. Everything dies. Join PETA or get over it.

That mentality has the makings of a serial killer.
I guess from owning snakes for years this doesn't bother me a whole lot, but lets look at things from the rats perspective. This was a store bought "feeder" rat. Meaning whether this crazy chick ate it or not, more than likely it would have been food for something else.
If this rats fate was being food for another animal (or her) I think it died the least painful way. If she actually bit down on it I'm sure it was a very fast and painless death. Would you have rather it been from a snake?? Either being bit and slowly suffocated? Or, perhaps it would have met a poisonous snake. That would have been a very slow and painful death. Or, could have been a lizard that gnawed on it for a bit and then swallowed alive. I'm sure that would have been a fun way to go too.
Is the girl not right in the head? Absolutely! Did I eat a live goldfish when I was drunk 10ish years ago? Absolutely! Does that make me a horrible person? Maybe
