One little earthquake in one country can move the whole earth off it's axis? Really? I'm guessing when the world was created the earth was spinning all different directions and flinging off it's axis every hour or so.

The one in Chile shortened the day by 2.6 millionths of a second. The one that caused the big tital wave (2004?) shortened the day by 6.8. Get busy living or get busy dying!

Issac Newton calculated the procession of the planet's axes standing on a plot of ground in 17th century England, with tools no more sophisticated than a telescope and a sextant. So yes, it can be done.
