If you compare Sly from Rambo 2 to Rambo 3 you can see how he over did the steroids and weights. It isn't believable that a combat soldier would be that size and some one that size could move with speed or stealth when required.

Arnie got it right, for him, in a way for Predator though the gastroenteritis he had during filming probably helped as well.

Stallone admits his ego taking Rambo in a bad direction putting him shirtless I'm terrain that it could never work in, but Rambo was also symbolic as much as a character in 2 and 3, that's why he took him back to a character for 4.

He's not as developed as a character as Rambo but I really like Barney Ross.

y r u h8n??

It's kind of a shame he went full throttle with Barney. That would've been his chance. I'm still holding out for a Rambo 5 though.

Oh no! is this calculus?! :panic:

um...y = 16?!

:nono it = (_!_)

He probably figured people would be so caught up in what was going on to care about effects. I noticed, but it's one of my favorite moments in the movie so I look past it.

I love Rambo so more movies could be nice, but 4 is so perfect a movie for the series and end to it, I really just want it left alone. The Expendables is perfect for him, he can be the old guy and it fits the plot and he's already into his third movie.

Zero issue with that! :rock

...well, except for when he cut the dude in half, that CGI blood smear looked fake as hell. :lol

Yeah, R4 was good, i'm happy with that ending.

Wasn't he supposed to take on space aliens at one point in the late 90s to early 2000. :rotfl

Still my favorite Arnold action scenes, his fight with Alyssa Milano was brutal.

The death scenes are so comical and PG rated in Commando when compared to Rambo the 13th. :lol

Amazing how Die Hard came along and changed the muscle hero to the regular every day slim man hero. :lol

But even before DH we already had Indy to show that a regular professor could be a bad ***.

But Commando and Cobra were the beginning of the end.

I got it for my birthday last year but a deal like that would have been hard to pass up if I didn't have the set.

We also had Mad Max in 1980 ('70 in Oz), The Road Warrior in '81 and Lethal Weapon in 1987, a year before DH, cementing Gibson as a non-muscly action star before Bighead Bruce Willis (who was still acting in romantic comedies). :wink1:

The Bennett death scene was straight from Tom & Jerry, it wasn't even Itchy & Scratchy class :lol

But the injuries he inflicts on the pissant soldier's in the Directors cut are definately Itchy & Scratchy quality :yess:

Jason Statham Survives 'Near-Death Experience' on the Set of 'The Expendables 3'

Jason Statham doesn’t just act the hard man. The British actor has casually escaped a "near-death experience" on the set of "The Expendables 3" that left his action-hardened co-stars in shock.

Speaking to ‘The Tonight Show’ with Jay Leno, fellow Expendable Terry Crews, who co-stars in the Stallone-led movie, revealed the how the team was shooting a scene when a truck Statham was driving plunged into the Black Sea.

"I had a near-death experience," began Crews. "We were doing a stunt and Jason Statham was driving the truck, and we were supposed to be on the back of this truck. For some reason we’re over there talking, sipping smoothies and he gets in the truck… We’re in Varna, Bulgaria, on the edge of the Black Sea, he literally was supposed to stop the truck, we [get out and] shoot the whole thing."

"Well, the truck doesn't stop! The truck rolls over the dock, into the Black Sea with Jason Statham driving!"

"Now, this is the thing," admitted the former NFL star. "In your mind, you have an action film where you're like, if that happens I'm gonna grab the truck, I'm gonna do all this stuff. [But] I was like [screaming] 'Jason! Jason!’"

"I'm in a heap on the ground, he's in the water, in the truck! Now we are freaking out. Everybody's screaming, I'm [crying], and literally he gets out, swims to the top and the truck is gone. And we're supposed to be on the back of that thing, I was supposed to be on that!"

He added: "He gets back, they dry his clothes, and they're just like: 'We're going to shoot it again, we're going to shoot some more.' I'm like, 'What?' Let me tell you something, Jason Statham, he is a true bad, bad, badass… I couldn’t believe it!”

“It seems to me Jason Statham had the near-death experience,” host Leno laughed at Crews. “What you did is you watched a near-death experience!”

As it turns out, Statham has had ample experience in the water, which may also explain why he fared so well. The 46-year-old actor competed as a member of Britain's National Diving Squad for 12 years.

"The Expendables 3" with Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford and Arnold Schwarzenegger won't hit theaters until August 15, 2014. But Jason Statham will be seen next in "Homefront" (with a screenplay by Sly Stallone) on November 27.
