Cape-flicks are over!

:panic:
There is a sort of poetic irony that Zaslav absolutely gutted their animation division, removed countless animated shows and cancelled several animated films, and pinned all their hopes on "The Flash"...

... And two animated films that aren't even fresh releases are going to beat it at the box office in its second weekend.

Damn. Dc is getting blasted. It would be cool tho if blue beetle became the surprise hit of the summer and made unexpected money. I’m rooting for that film

The trades are reporting that WB is selling off or licensing a ton of stuff to other streaming platforms but no mention of DC……yet.

They are in big financial trouble with loan debt especially with rate’s continuing to go up.

People still think Studios fully finance movies like old Hollywood.

Nope!

Look at Disney they’re hurting so bad they’re bringing back Imax ratios on blurays lol

I think people have just gotten used to not going to the theater if it will show up soon on digital. They're only willing to spend on what they feel they MUST see asap. Not to mention all the other problems surrounding this thing (Ezra, DCEU vs. DCU confusion, etc.). At this stage, doesn't matter what Gunn and Zaslav do, it will continue to tank except Reeves' Batman and Phillips' Joker.

Mickey Mouse rubbing his hands in utter delight right now. That last infinity stone is within reach
The irony is I don’t think Disney is in the position to even think of buying DC from WB unless it’s at a super discounted Clooney price lol

Disney has been ***-blasted (and not in the fun way) recently, looking at the Box Office projections for Indiana Jones and it may well do even worse than The Flash.
DC is SUCH a big IP (Batman alone has made an insane amount pure profit over the years...) that I doubt Disney could afford it now, WB aint letting that go for cheap because as soon as they do its a sign the studio is dead.
My honest guess - Amazon may buy it or offer a merger of their entertainment divisions, they have the money and the ambition to both win the streaming wars and break out into full on award-winning cinema (though their track record leaves a lot to be desired, Rings of Power is basically eye-cancer and The Boys is the best thing on TV right now).
But if WB let loose that DC is up for sale (which is basically the same as WB announcing it has a terminal illness) ANY company with enough capital, or good enough credit to borrow, will put in a bid - governments will likely get involved due to the huge potential of a total monopoly of the industry, it would be a mess.
But to reiterate: money talks and Amazon are the money men.

To put things in perspective: The situation with The Flash really could be that desperate, WB are bleeding money and according to this page it seems like The Flash may not even make back its marketing budget.

Given that this movie is already likely far, far, FAR more expensive than its reported budget given its been subjected to 10 years of development hell and more reshoots, rewritings and expensive cameos than any other movie I can think of... this could honestly be the biggest box office flop of all time, WB will have lost hundreds of millions of dollars on this film (possibly as much as 450 million from what I have heard about the "true" cost of making this film). Add to that the enormous flops that have preceeded it in WB's film lineup, the fact that WB havent had enough money to market all their movies over this last year, the enormous debt the WBD merger has placed them in (-$55,000,000,000 in the red and counting as of the initial merger April last year), the asset stripping Zaslav is currently engaging in devaluing the stock and the fact that their next few DCEU films are destined to be huge flops....
Things do NOT look good for the studio, their only hopes are Barbie (you bet your *** Mattel is taking a big slice of that), DUNE 2 (though they only get a share of that film, Legendary studios has the rights) and a few potential quiet surprises.

There is blood in the water and more opportunistic companies with capital will be sniffing it out.

With how The Flash box office earnings is turning out guess we can say goodbye to that Batman Beyond movie with Keaton ever being made.
