Quick question for ANDY:
Do you have any second thoughts about this guy, now you see pictures of him all around? Anything you'd do differently? Happy with how they turned out (I seam to remember you preferred the green)? I Don't know how they respond to your Hulk on other boards, but as far as I'm concerned, this is THE ULTIMATE HULK figure out there. How does it feel to be the 'father' of this big boy?

I was born on Friday the 13th and my favorite number has always been 13. I like 13 being a "lucky" number for me when others consider it the opposite. I also think that "13" would be a cool ES # associated with such a monstrous hero. Its the closest thing I will ever have to tomandshell's "42". My Grey Hulk arrived today. I haven't opened it but if the number written on the bottom right corner of the shipping box is any indication I don't know if I'll be able to part with this in a million years.

thats awesome!! :rock

looking at that ES number reminds me too.
they need to give a refresher lesson to their ES number writer. It looks to be the same person on almost every piece I have and many of them at first glance get a reaction of.....

"ok I got number 12 .... er ..... 17 ..... or is that 13? .... er let me check the box .... OH! ok ... I got #72"

Couldn't find a black cat? ;)
:lol

Sometimes I think our cat is more destructive than any Halloween cat could ever be. Thanks for the congrats Alice and DarthRamuk. Got kind of a Willy Wonka "golden ticket" vibe when it arrived.

I'll probably give my Grey special prominence during the season of Halloween, Cap will always be prominent even more so for the 4th of July (good one Captain Aldeggon). I wonder what other Marvel PF's could take center stage on certain holidays. Maybe I should track down a Doom in case there's ever a nuclear war.

13 is a pretty kewl number to wind up with. 62 would be as well since it was the year Hulk was born.

Thanks for the huge compliment! I've gotta admit, I've never had a bigger ego stroke than the past few days, all the hype over this piece has me blushing like crazy. I feel like I should have some kind of boastful bumper sticker on my car or something, like one of those "honor student" parents. :) "I'm the Proud Parent of the Sideshow PF Hulk Statue"..... ;)

As for second thoughts, absolutely yes. Not that I'm unhappy with the final piece, but I feel this way about every sculpture I do... There's always, always, always room for improvement in my own work (any artist that tells you differently needs a reality check). But in the end I'm definitely satisfied with the result, and it was a very fun piece to work on. Although there are a few things I'd change about it, rather than revisit this statue I'd like to just take a crack at another Hulk altogether. There are SO many ways one could depict this character... I'd love to do a more buff, 'raging' Hulk now that I've gotten the classic version out of my system.

Now I'm just anxious to get my production Hulk from SS... It can't get here soon enough. :)

thank you for the classic version because there are so few out there. i would love to see your "rage" version though. you deserve to be proud because noone has done a sculpt of the hulk that large where any imperfection in the sculpt will show because most of his body is exposed. thank you hulk daddy!

just a dumb question as im considering buying a hulk, but does anyone have an acrylic case for this guy??? or even know what size dimensions for him?? because of his size and obvious heft im afraid i cant put him in my bookshelf because he'll SMASH!!! right through the shelves. so he's gonna be on my coffee table in my computer room hopefully with an acrylic case not too far away.

Another question for Andy:

At what point in the development process is the Exclusive version determined? From my understanding you had to campaign to be allowed to sculpt the Kirby Hulk. Then did the powers that be say, "Hey Kirby's was colored grey in issue #1, that can be the exclusive," or was it the other way around. "We're going to have a Grey exclusive Andy, which means you have to sculpt either the Kirby or McFarlane version...."

Sal Buscema's Hulk was never grey if I'm not mistaken, and for many he's the most classic Hulk. I wonder what the exclusive would have been if you had chosen that version to sculpt.

Collectible companies just need to come to grips that their ***** have just been handed to them with this Hulk and leave it at that. Better luck next time Bowen, GG, whoever.

Until the CM Jack Sparrow comes out I think this is a true statement.

I think when it comes to Hulk and exclusives the Grey Hulk is the easiest version to do even if it desn't fit the sculpt. That's the case here and that's the case with the recent Bowen as examples.

The strenght of the sculpt can make it interesting as a variant so people don't mind. I wouldn't mind seeing a Planet Hulk variant or something different. I realize this is hard unless they are willing to do true variants like an NZ Spidey and not just repaints.
