When did the $5 coupon comes up again?? Please enlighten me..:horror
Oh, boy, it's impossible to tell you this without opening old wounds... The coupon was mentioned in last weeks podcast (sideshow radio). It's the same podcast featuring the so called "hint" to the marvelous "Gray Hulk diorama" that caused so much commotion.

The lack of the Elven knife and the Lórien cloak probably only means that these are being kept for a later-stage figure.

Strider didn't have the Lórien cloak. I think this figure basically comes from the part of FOTR when we first meet Aragorn (Green Dragon). That's the only time he is known as "Strider" after all.

He did get a Lorien cloak in the film, as did every other member of the fellowship. And we get the Evenstar with this figure, so I don't think it's strictly a Bree version.

Right, but he's not "Strider" at that point, he is "Aragorn." This figure is Aragorn as Strider. Therefore, I'm saying that "Strider" did not get the cloak.

Also, the Evenstar throws the continuity off altogether, since none of those Arwen scenes took place in the book. I haven't read the books in a while so someone with more knowledge than me on the Evenstar can set me straight about that. I can't remember exactly when the "Strider" name is changed to "Aragorn."

You are correct. & Strider already had the Evenstar Pendant when he 1st
met the hobbits at the inn. We see him get it though a flashback. So this
figure is complete as "Strider".

I honestly can't wait for Aragorn as Lord Of Gondor! I was going to buy the
Cinemaquette 1/3 version, but will now wait & see what the PF 1/4 version
looks like 1st (cheaper AND easier to dosplay!)

*ss*

Thanks for confirming that for me SS.

Actually, that's not correct. In the book, Strider NEVER receives the pendant. It goes directly from Arwen to Frodo at the very end. Also, he introduces himself as Aragorn almost immediately after Frodo recieves a letter from Gandalf at the inn confirming that he has sent a Ranger named Strider, whose secret name is Aragorn, who will know the latter half of a prophetic verse, and that will be the sign that Frodo has met the true Aragorn.

In the film, Aragorn receives the pendant, not in flashback, but soon after he arrives at Rivendell with the hobbits in tow. He also introduces himself as Aragorn at the inn. The bit about the letter and the verse is mercifully cut.

So....so there. :lecture

For the sake of having the 29-page thread reach 29 pages, I'll simply add at this time that I am disappointed that the exclusive piece was not the partly chewed Kingsfoil weed, nor the deer/stag carcass from the bog scene (good one, Seretur) nor a bowl of Eowyn's "Mumak Stew" (which may still see the light of day if/when the Eowyn figure is released...) :naughty

I thought about the deer as well, but figured that would be way to big. They need to add/fit the exclusive into the regular version's packaging setup with relative ease, and they only have so much space to work with.

That got me thinking--what is the largest exclusive that Sideshow has ever packaged with a 12" figure?
