Anybody still owns their PS3? My controllers broke and I tried to find a new one, but the OEM Sony ones are about $50 and above! Anything less is most likely a counterfeit, which are an abundance. :(

That sucks. :( I still have my PS3 mainly for Rock Band 3 and the games my wife plays. I bought it day 1 of launch and it's still going strong, though it sounds like a jet engine when it's running compared to my PS4. :lol

Wow, you're the owner of an engendered species, Zod. Do you have any idea how much that's sought after? I remember searching for a launch model for months and months few years back. Can't find one. :lol

I love the PS3, mainly because it's a multimedia powerhouse. It plays audio PS1, PS2, PS3 games, CDs, DVDs, Blu rays, MP3 and all other kinds of music and video files. and you can use i as a wireless media server hub to play stuff off your computer to your TV. It's quite literally an all-in-one machine.

I didn't know it was worth very much. :lol I bet Gamestop would give me $40 for it.

I'll be sad when it finally dies on me. I've logged a hell of a lot of hours on it over the years with games and movies, and it's still currently getting as much use as my PS4.

Well, I used to fix those old fat models when I was younger. If it's making jet engine sounds then it's most probably the fans are clogged up. The older models are also notorious for having really cheap thermal paste, thus all the YLOD stories you've heard. It might be best to send it to a specialist you could open it up and give it a cleanup, because once YLOD hits, your console is beyond repair. And it WILL happen, unfortunately.

The launch PS3s can also play PS2 discs- there's a real, working PS2 inside there hence why it's such a collector's item.

My launch PS3 is now a Netflix/Blu-Ray player.

I should probably get it checked out so it keeps going. Being able to play PS2 discs was a big reason I was excited for the PS3 when it came out. It sucks that they took that option away from later models. I didn't keep many of my PS2 games, but one I still love is The Punisher. :lol That ****ing game was brutal for the time and is still awesome. :lol

You mean the one that you can dip someone's head into a Piranha tank? That was great. :lol

Aside from getting a $350 Framemeister, a backwards compatible PS3 is the next best way to play PS2 games on an HDTV.

I'd steal it from you if you didn't lived half the world away. :monkey3

Yeah, it's the one with special kills throughout the game that they portrayed in black and white to reduce the shock value. :lol The variety of weapons and kill moves during normal combat makes it one of my absolute favorite games. Plus, the story was actually good. I'd love to see an updated Punisher game, but I'm afraid it would pale in comparison to the PS2 one.

Aww, if you were local I'd let you play it whenever you wanted--especially if you cleaned it for me. :lol

Yeah well, I'll probably accidentally overheat it and run away. :lol

Just remember, it's best to let your PS3 (or even PS4) a 10 minute cool down period BEFORE switching off the console, especially after playing a game. That will allow any trapped heat to dissipate and prolong the life of the console.

But the launch controller lacking dualshock sucked.

There are a gazillion DS3's you can find as long as you're willing to fork out $50. :lol

I'm good as long as X works.

Anyone pick up any presents for Valentine's Day? I got my wife some perfume, and she wanted the Mezco Pinhead. I wasn't sure what to ask for, but I have been watching a lot of reviews on the 1/4 Jungle Hunter Predator so I decided on that. I think I might get Big Chap too in the near future.

I haven't bought anything for my wife yet--some years I don't. :lol Sometimes we just go out and have a nice meal or I do something around the house that she's been wanting done. My wife knows I hate the holiday. I buy her nice **** all year long--I don't need to do it because Hallmark tells me I should. However, I did break down and get her this a couple years ago

Yeah it's definitely a marketing ploy. Typically we just get each other something and go to dinner. Although dinner is out due to her schedule probably not allowing that.
