I hope we get Dooku this year,I wanna see what SS does with the Lee sculpt.Someone said the reason why we haven't gotten Vader,Fett or Stormtroopers from SS is because they don't do the armored figures...any weight to this?

I agree with everything you've said, except you've put it in the wrong section!:D

Too much surfing for Johnny Utah. :monkey1 At least the signature quote is from Indy :monkey3

The jacket and the hat MUST look right for it to be a stellar Indy, no matter what material they use. Mess the Jacket or the hat up and you ruin the figure.

The Relic Hunter jacket is a bit frumpy, the leather's thick, has a large collar and ugly zipper. I'll wait till I see what SS comes up with. The look is more important than just what material it's made out of. If the SS one sucks then then I'll think about replacements. Although I've already gotten the Newline boots. I know SS will not match their quality.

I agree 1000%......but if you want REAL leather, there are no other reasonable alternatives, other than Toys McCoy($$$$) but I think if you alter the jacket correctly, it can be worth it!.....I think IF you remove the inner lining(make it less bulky), shorten the collar, remove the zipper and age/weather the jacket(weathering on leather always looks better than synthetic material"IMHP")...You will have a GREAT looking jacket. After all, the jacket & fedora are the most important features on Indy, everything else you can kinda fudge a little and get away with it(In my OWN opinion)

I don't care which material they use either, as long as it looks to scale I'll be happy. Medicom has really done some great work recently with the X3 Wolverine and Ghost Rider... I hope Sideshow can get something of that quality across.

They did not do so good with the Kurgan or T2.

I have faith Sideshow will do an impressive job on Indy. The head sculpt is great, so I don't see why they would drop the ball on this one. Why just make repeat mistakes others have made? The secondary characters may not stand the scrutiny of collectors, but if they fail with Indy they may as well throw the license down the gurgler. Scale is the word galactiboy used and let it be so. No oversized zippers, whip, or head. Get the hat right and make the coat fit.

Here's what I've done with my Toys Indy... Weathered the jacket, removed the zipper (way out of scale) and did the water treatment thing to get the sleeves how I wanted them. Weathered the hat, shirt and pants, put on new, much narrower bag strap, new whip, and put the whole thing on a Dragon body because Toys articulation sucked. Smutzed around with the face a bit too.

But I think the jacket still looks too bulky. There is a guy who sells custom Indy's on ebay sometimes, and his jackets are made out of waxed cotton. His jackets look perfect. Exactly the right weight, not too bulky, lots of wrinkles in the right place, and perfect weathering. I'd take something like that over real leather any day.

But I think the jacket still looks too bulky.

It ALL hinges on the body type you use......I use a RAH 301 body(Slim) it makes the jacket hang better. It's the same LOGIC fashion designers apply; The skinnier the model, the better the clothes hang.My rule of thumb is: The bulkier the jacket, or clothes, the thinner the figure should be, to compensate for the added density. A muscular body is wrong for this jacket(in my HONEST opinion) Skinny is better.

Good observations mindbook. I like the RAH body too but think it's a bit short. I really like the Hot Toys body myself. Do you think it's too muscular?

I'm actually worried about SS's fedora. Like the jacket it changes a bit from movie to movie. I've got an Adventurebuilt one coming to me... sometime, been waiting almost a year now and after doing research on it I really don't have much faith that Sideshow is going to be obsessive enough to get the taper, the turn and the softness right.

The legs on the RAH 301 figure can be extended with the "O" rings(included) The only muscular body I use is Truetype 38.....Is this a Hot Toys product?
