You really thought you were going to see a Balrog? Why? Because of a flash of a flashback to explain the magic rock? Did you think we would see the White Knight too?

I thought perhaps there would be a purpose to spending on the cgi for it. We already have the story and we know where they are. I gave them too much credit I guess.

Im sure there's some deleted scenes of equally relevant stuff. Legolas in his crib maybe or a guy making the sign for the prancing pony.

Adding the Balrog would have been too cool. But not sure what they'd do with it.

There should be a rule that a monster is required in every other episode. Cut some Nori and her friend stuff.

I’m not expecting this to be anything but a sort of fun excursion into “what if“ territory. I still have the Hobbit and LotR books and the Jackson film trilogy as my main course. I’m liking the show better than the Jackson Hobbit trilogy. And I can enjoy that lesser film trilogy, actually. Anyway, I take it for what is.

Will you watch S2 in 2027?
We'll need a refresher course to reacqauint us with all the characters. With the exception of maybe Galadriel and Elrond I will have forgotten all of their names if it's more than a one year wait. Actually it's been a month and those two are the only ones I remember off the top of my head lol...

I just watched episode 6

OMG has there ever been a show this boring. This episode Literally zapped the life out of me.

I don’t care about anyone and all they do is talk as slowly as possible to make the show go on and on and on. I freaking rooting for Sauron.

**** this ******* show.

1 more episode. I guess I’ll finish it but I could skip it and not feel bad at all.

Maybe that's what Bezos is hoping for, that the time and distance and glut of original programming out there will get people to forget S1 and thus they can do a soft reboot.

They can't replace the Galadriel actress at this point. But I've seen her in other things, she's more than competent, so the writing needs help. Durin and Elrond ( Dwarf and Elf) are the best part of the show, and I don't think they'll want to change that at all.

Looks like they jettisoned Joseph Mawle ( BenJen Stark). But with this makeup, he looked like Lee Pace, and since that would confuse the casual audience ( i.e. why is the mean boss elf from The Hobbit Trilogy using a time machine to be an evil elf?), I could see the change coming.

This is not a bad show, it's just not a good show. And the amount of money pumped into it takes away all the excuses for it to be a bad show. The first season of Breaking Bad did not have a robust budget. It had every reason to make some excuses on why it was a bad show, but it ended up a very good show. One thing I appreciated about Peter Jackson, is when you saw the background material to the original LOTR trilogy, he hired on people who cleared loved the series to work on it behind the scenes. You could see the care, craft and labor of love that went into it. Same with Firefly and Ron Moore's Battlestar Galactica. You could see people put a labor of love into everything into the production.

ROP has the financial firepower and platform, but it doesn't look like it's a passion project by anyone involved.

Lol
