Out of all the trailers for the various network TV series I've seen over the past couple of days, this is the only one that doesn't look like ****, and, since it's The Muppets, that makes me happy.:lol

I am SO down with this.

Bring on an Alf resurgence and all my childhood will be passed onto my son. lol

I'm not feeling it. It seems like the same watered down Muppets from the last film. Better than "Muppets Tonight" Muppets, maybe, but it's missing the heart, and edge that it had during the Henson years. For awhile, I was hopeful that the newest incarnation of the Muppets could somehow recapture that, but I know now that despite their best efforts, it's just not going to happen. Even if it was really good (and this seems, at best, OK to me based on the commercial), then it wouldn't closely resemble the Muppets I used to know. Oh, well. I hope it succeeds for those who are excited for it.

Seconded.

What disappoints me more is the lack of the original voice talent. Missing Frank Oz is a total bummer.

Frank Oz hasn't voiced a Muppet in quite a while. and hasn't performed a Muppet in even longer. He was pretty much just dubbing the voices for the last half of the 90's. Eric's done a great job taking over. His Fozzie is still hit or miss sometimes I find though. Piggy is spot on.

The Muppet builds themselves are what bother me. lol They all don't look quite right. Chef's head is HUGE. Gonzo looks very stiff and too bulky (Dave seems to be mellowing out quite a bit in his older age, and Gonzo seems to be as well) and I haven't been a fan of Fozzie's look for a while now.

As beeshaw points out, Dave Goelz is still doing Gonzo (I think). He's got such a distinctive voice, that it would be hard to duplicate. Of course, the same goes for many of the other Muppets. Kermit and Fozzie sound way off, as do Statler and Waldorf. The guy doing Floyd isn't bad.

Yup. I'm 95% sure he's the last of the originals.

I'm so used to Kermit now I don't notice how his voice has changed. I've become desensitzed to it over the last...24 years. ;)

Statler and Waldorf are Steve Whitmire and Dave Goelz.

Matt Vogel took over for Floyd. (he also does Lew, Crazy Harry, Robin, Uncle Deadly and was Constantine in Most Wanted. Also will be taking over Big Bird).

This aired in Canada last night, and totally exceeded my somewhat lofty expectations!!! LOVED it.

They didn't recycle as much of the 'Pilot Presentation' as I thought they would, which was a welcome surprise.

Anyone else catch it??
