Just thought I would let those who don't know here isn the US that

1. This is coming out soon - Feb 19th

2. There are no new Spcial Features

3. There is no original mono so it's still the remastered track that we got with the original DVD release (which as many know sort of sucks)

4. The new remastered picture Looks GREAT!!!! All scratches and dust have been removed. It still retain s the film grain and DNR does not sem to be to present. It does have a green tint to many of the evening scenes instead of the Cameron Blue but IMO this does not matter. The picture itself looks amazing. While not as good as modern films it was by far the best I have ever seen the film and it made for a very fun watch to see it looking so good.

I have the UK version which came out a little while ago and I just got around to checking it out last night.

IMO it's worth the upgrade for the picture alone.

Hrm, so now we have to double dip with Blu Rays, just like we used to have to do with DVDs?? Damn. One of my favorites, so I might have to do this even though I didn't really have an issue with the quality of the existing one.

When you get it compare th scenes when the T1 and Kyle time arrive. Because of how the effects were done back then there is "black Dirt" all over the screen when ever there is the electrical charge. Same as the ending when the T1 is terminated.

All the night scenes look much better. Any daytime scenes look about the same. But since the film takes place at night for 90% of the film it makes for a must own.

Why is this thread here? :thud::slap:gah:

Mods can feel free to move it. I was not thinking. I just clicked on the aliens/robots thread becasue when I think Terminator related stuff this is what I think of. I mean there are polls about which is the fav. Terminator film here so I thought why not this.

True, but there's a movie/tv board.

Doesn't matter if they remaster it 200 times it's almost guaranteed to include the LAUGHABLE "new and improved" gun sounds.

aside from the LaserDisc version the only DVD to contain the original Gun sounds audio track is this DVD:

another case when the "new and improved" remastered copies destroy the ortiginal as intended by the film's producers.

Have to agree with you on the new gun sound effects. How can they get it so wrong?? On the other hand I have watched it so much with the new sound f/x that I am sort of use to it.

I hate the part when he guns down Ginger with the .45 in her apartment, makes me cringe everytime i hear the new futuristic gun blasts.

Come to think of it I don't think I ever owned a VHS copy of T1. My only copies have been the Region 2 Ultimate Edition DVD and the one that came out not long before that one. So..I don't think I've heard these original gun sounds since the days I would have seen T1 on telly.

Comparing the picture of this new one with the old BR release is equal in difference to when comparing BR to DVD. It's THAT much of a significant upgrade. And as stated before, it retains film grain and isn't fudged over by noise reduction tools that make everything look like wax.

I believe only the mono track contains the original sounds. Was really bummed that track wasn't included, but that also had the out of sync parts. The sound of the .45 longslide is the most cringe-worthy change in the surround mix audio. You can hear the original sound in the extra feature bit.

The 2-disc DVD still has the best features, as the two featurettes are edited down on the BR releases that also lacks the audio commentary.
