Just watched the first episode, fantastic show. Solid writing and great acting, Jeff Daniels has great chemistry with Sam Waterson and Emily Mortimer. The shows smart, funny, exciting, and a great inside look at a very important industry. I think HBOs got a new hit on their hands.

I want to see this. Daniels looks good in the commercials, and the writing should be good considering it is a Sorkin production. I'm an observer of the presentation of news, and am curious to see how these guys examine it.

First episode was phenomenal! Had me hooked from the first second to the last. Jeff Daniels was ____ing brilliant.

The writing is sharp and keeps you on edge and setting it in 2010 was a nice touch to revisit some of the larger recent news story. It was nice to see attention brought back to the oil spill and the way these people go about putting togeather a show while still gathering information and making decisions on the fly. Daniel's performance is really astounding. After only an hour I have no qualms saying he's going to be high in the running come awards season.

Someone posted this great scene on FB and it got my attention. Will definitely be checking this out now.

I love this show - but I loved Studio 60 too. Sorkin may be a misogynistic _______, but he can sure write some dialogue.

Watching this now and I have to say that was the best opening I've seen to a show in a while. I seriously agree with every last word Daniels character said in that opening.

Are you just referring to The Social Network, or is there other stuff going on there?? Looking at some blogs and such, it seems he explained that pretty well.

Just finished the first episode. I think I am really going to like this show. Jeff Daniels was awesome! The only thing that I was disappointed in was the opening credits. HBO usually has awesome opening credits and I thought this was pretty weak.

Tonight's episode was outstanding, that last 5 minutes was fan-____ing-tastic! Jeff Daniels is giving the performance of a lifetime on this show.

The Newsroom, one of my favourite TV shows returns on July 14.

This show is great. The opening to the first episode and what he says is 100% spot on.

:exactly: It definitely hits the nail on the head. I like the topical nature of the episodes as well (dealing with items with the benefit of hindsight).

That's going to change this season though, right? I heard they're going to focus on only 1 news story for the entire season as opposed to last season where they handled multiple ones.

Absolutely love the show. Only problem is the opening song is so horrible for it. We watch random shows and we keep saying "still would be a better intro to newsroom"

hope they get a better/more catchy song for the opening.
