Sideshow needs to skip the PRO body and the PROMETHEUS or whatever body they designed in-house because quite frankly . . . those bodies are not worthwhile.

Sideshow should simply save the R&D or whatever $ and make an arrangement with HOT TOYS to use their TRUE TYPE body. It's that simple.

WELL . . .

That simple from our perspective as collectors, but not necessarily that simple from Sideshow's perspective due to various business reasons.

Most of their development costs are sunk and long since expensed, so it really comes down to whether X number of bodies are cheaper to produce or source.

They already have an established relationship with HT, so I doubt the later would gouge them in any deal. Also since collectors really seem to dislike the Prometheus due to its poor joint quality among other things, it might increase sales to use the most popular body in the 1:6 world at the moment.

Frankly though Sideshow has lost interest over the last two years in 1:6 figures, probably I'm guessing because the profit margins are higher on polystone items and they are frankly being outclassed by HT, despite gravitating towards them in price.

The fact that they are pausing the Indy line is no good. It's not like they're pausing Star Wars to do a Chewie or a Yoda.

Maybe they can clarify that answer in the next Q&A. Once they announce a 'pause' people will stop buying if they think the line is done, and then when they 'unpause' nobody will buy anymore because they're done, and we have LOTR all over again.

Well the verbiage is rather peculiar. They aren't admitting that the line is done, nor are they saying that the line is "resting" which usually means R.I.P. for a line but rather "taking a pause." But for how long exactly? 3 months? 6 months? A year? Never?

Sounds like it's time for another round of...

Yup not good. I don't think it's as dead as Lord of the Rings was when they started their "rest" with that line but it's not a confidence booster.

My guess which is only as guess is that they are waiting to see how Sr. and old Indy do before commiting to their next figurer and they are also trying to figurer out which one would give them the bet sales. Personnally I wouldn't mind if only one or two came out each year if it means the line continues.

You're probably right, superdoug. They're just waiting to see how the last 2 figures sell before they make any real decisions. I would also be happy with one or two a year, but I think that's unlikely since I think people's interest in the line would wane.

Oh boy...not sure if I should be nervous or excited about this news. I find it hard to believe that Sideshow would take a 1:6 license with a very small fan base and apply HT "technology" to it. Not sure if the returns would justify the investment. But Sideshow is always full of surprises, for better or for worse, and I support them trying. But if it doesn't pan out, then what? The end of the 1:6 line and no ToD figures? It would be a travesty to have at least one character from each movie in 1:6 and not have ToD.

I am excited to hear about ToD PF figures thought. Mola Ram and ToD Indy would be instant purchases. Maybe we'll get a sneak peek before the end of the year.

I wrote in to "Ask Sideshow" to clarify what "paused" meant exactly. We'll see if they respond.

I love all the figures from the line so far, despite there being lots of disappointed people out there. So I'm very happy with what I have. Now I'm wondering if I should get the Ex KOTCS Indy with fridge and bite the financial bullet, instead of just the regular.

Well I would think if the German Indy sells out and brings in enough money to be successful then a club obi wan one is a real possibility.

I would also think they'd be debating about short round because that hobbit body has gotten very little use and they must have spent some money to get it designed. Also for TOD Indy and Mola there is a decent amount of skin showing and they might be trying to decide how that would look on the Pro and if that would sell.

On a side note: Anybody know where you can get a good 1/6 tie to turn radiers Indy into Indy from the last crusade? I know the shirt and other stuff is different too but that might be getting too difficult to match.

My problem with that, is that we need a new head sculpt.

Agree 100%. That's why I'm all for Sideshow making variations--for the new head sculpts. I know most of them are very easy to kit bash, but it's great to have a new face with the different "looks". However, now that they may never make a Last Crusade Indy, this is the only option.

Just put 1/6 tie on ebay. I got a great one for $3 and used it to turn the Medi Indy into Last Crusade.

OMG! OMG!

Posted on today's Q&A

This bodes well for hopefully an eventual ToD 1/6" Indy and Mola Ram with a body suit.

Of course... ToD Premium Formats is awesome to hear. Bring on Indy and Mola Ram.

Sounds more like an excuse to put the Indy 1:6 line into their infamous "on hold" status than anything else. Notice they said Henry Jones and not the already pre-ordered KOTCS Indy?

Yea if that is the case I am going to hold off my anger. If SSC ????s up Henry Jones then I am pretty much done with 1/6th in general with them. I will stick it out with the Dead but not going to get anything else because that would just piss me off royally.

But they shouldn't need to pause the entire Indy 1:6 line just to do R&D for the TOD figures. There are still plenty of other characters they can do with the regular Pro.

It's strange cos Irish gave us the hint of "red" unless he meant something else.

Could be we'd be "seeing" red? :dunno:lol

Sounds like someone doesn't know how to read forum rules. No Hotlinking from Sideshow's website bub. It's a :nono!

After bailing on German Indy, I'll probably pick up Senior and then just cherry-pick the rest. Canceling it after Senior would make it that much easier. I can understand why they'd want to cancel it too. They've made quite a bit of poor choices along the way (A loose Indy w/headsculpt too heavy for the body to hold up, Belloq who looks nothing like the actor, not chroming the Ark, German Indy, a $70 polystone fridge) that have resulted in every figure sticking around instead of being sold out. The shame here is that we'll get blamed as customers for not buying that crap vs. admit the ball might've been dropped with their production choices. :(

Sounds like someone can't tell that's it's not a hotlink but an image link like they can't tell their @$$ from a hole in the ground. Also sounds like someone shouldn't...

It's not "hotlinked" i.e. it doesn't take you to the page. People post images from SS's site here all the time. You'd suck as a mod.

Well isn't the reason it is a no no is because SSC now takes the hit of having to send the image over here? That is why you shouldn't be posting images that SS hosts? Why should SSC have waste their money?
