Breaking news John Carpenter returns for new Halloween as EX Producer

A press gathering tonight has revealed some astronomical news that will send horror fans into a full on frenzy and I can’t blame them!

It’s been confirmed that a new Halloween film has been locked down and will be a production between Blumhouse, Miramax, and Trancas International Films, with Blumhouse’s Jason Blum and Trancas’ Malek Akkad acting as producers. However, that’s not the only huge news as creator John Carpenter will be acting as executive producer!

“38 years after the original Halloween. I’m going to help to try to make the 10th sequel the scariest of them all,” Carpenter states. Although unconfirmed, apparently there are negotiations for the creator to also act as the film’s composer, which means we’ll hear his signature sounds gracing the screen while Michael goes on his new rampage!

Akkad, who has been a producer on the franchise since Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, explains, “Trancas International is thrilled to be teaming up with Miramax on ‘Halloween,’ one of the most enduring horror franchises in film. We are also very excited to be working with Jason Blum and the whole team at Blumhouse. Together, along with the return of legendary filmmaker John Carpenter, we are eager to make a film that will be a milestone in the franchise’s legacy and that will excite the fans, young and old.”

No official release date has been confirmed, although the hope that was bandied at the gathering was a Halloween 2017 premiere.

Yeah CU H20 Myers is a nice figure, post plenty of pics when you get him in-hand.

Saw that news this morning when I finished my nightshift, as you could imagine, all sorts of excitement was formed. Really excited to see this all come together. The next few months are going to be really interesting, that's for sure.

Great news indeed. I hope they get to use replica of a 75kirk mask painted up like the original. No way they’ll find a Don Post 75 kirk , but they’re lots of replicas out there that would make for great conversions.

I would actually like to see them make a true sequel to HII 1981, scrub all the guff in between, Thorn, Man in Black, RZ, and even though H20 and Resurrection are 'direct' sequels to '78 and '81 that film wasn't the greatest either, with some of the worst Myers masks seen in any of the films.

Make it resolve around that, only years later, Laurie has died, Loomis has died and this is how Myers survived all these years and reawakens all these years later with a new purpose, evil never dies tight? H4 did okay with the 'how he survived/looked' after HII but it could have been done better.

I agree about making it as it was right after H2. Make it set in 1983 or something. Loomis dead from the explosion at the hospital. Carpenter said he wants to go back and make Michael “ he’s not just a human being, but a force of nature like the wind”.
I’m pretty stoked about this. I really hope they finally give us the true Halloween sequel from H-1 and H-2 that we truly deserve.

Yeah, Loomis perished in the fire, no way would he survive that. Like I said I liked the way H4 tried to deal with it but IF Loomis did survive that fire he would have looked a helluva lot crispier.

Make it Laurie's ambulance crashed pretty soon after leaving the hospital and the only one that survived that night was Myers, another 'the boogeyman' will always get you theory/storyline. Have Myers lay doormat for years until he awakens.

I'd like to see a Halloween sequel that removes connection to the Myers house, Strodes, Loomis, Haddonfield, everything. Explore Myers as a physical embodiment of evil as he was intended, have him show up in Wisconsin, no idea why, just be there. To me, where Halloween, and many franchises, went off track is taking a concept that was originally only thought out to the level of one story and be desperate for sequels and struggle for a reason to make him go on. Halloween 2 (1981) could work just as well if you don't make Laurie the sister and just treat it like she got away, and whatever compels Michael won't let him allow that.

I was surprised to read this news this morning, especially about John Carpenter being involved. It seems to be the most promising of all the talk over the last few years (especially with Dimension out of the picture now). Maybe this will be a step in the right direction to get some new Michael Myers merchandise out there as well.

Thanks man. It's MadBug's V1 sculpt haired and painted by SilentSurfer. I'm not sure how long it took in total because I bought it from a buddy who already had it sitting with Surfer for a while. It was probably in SS's possession for a good 6 months when I made the deal, and then I waited about another 3 months after that. By no means is Surfer fast, but he is guuuuuuuudd

Oh man that is beautiful !!!! Thanks for sharing with us man. I plan on building two Myers. I have 2 Madbug sculpts getting painted up. One by Tom, and the other is on its way to the UK to get done up by Peter.

Excellent Myers there pal.

The classic recipe it would seem, I would recommend Shadow Fergo/Fergo Black for your knife.

Got pretty much the same Myers as you. I have two Madbugs/Spook sculpts since last year and I have been trying desperately since then to get a hold of Silentsurfer but to no avail. I have now since decided to go with 8-Bit Commando. It is Silentsurfers hair work on Myers that really separates his from others I feel, he usually gets it spot on.

Yea, I went with the popular MadBug/Yunsil/Banner build under Mag's good authority. The only thing I did differently than most others was the HT Dutch boots instead of the Platoons. I usually prefer sculpted boots over real cloth and laces as I feel it retails the fine details better.

Fergo does sick work and that Lamson looks great, but I think I'm going with Fullmetal for that

Oh I hope I am not too late in ordering the H20 Myers mask! I'm in the latter, a fan of H20 movie.
