figured it was time for flippers to discuss flipping, why you flip, and why people love and hate the flipper's flipping.

i'll sometimes flip, but mostly buy for myself. now those that flip a very limited item are sometimes condemned, but this is america, the flipper nation. where would this country be without buyin low and sellin high?

flip away ladies and gents!!!

I can't speak for flippers, because I am not a participant, but I imagine they do do it because they like it, and it brings a smile to everyones face. Those that flip and those that acquire the items they truly want, and even those that spectate. It seems so wonderful to be free.

The only items I have bought with the sole intention of selling them right away were the McFarlane Deion Sanders club exclusives last year (I entered the lottery after the ordering fiasco.) I bought my 4 for $10 each and sold them the night I got them for $45 each and used that money to help pay for Jabba and the Throne.

I very rarely buy items with the intention to flip. I may flip sought after items after I've had them for a while if I need the space for something new (but then I guess that wouldn't be considered flipping!!!)

You can not have a flipping thread with out King Flipper a.k.a Bannister.

Paging Bannister, you're needed in the flipping thread!!

this thread was started with bannister in mind. he's your friendly neighborhood flipper so it's hard to believe all the negative press flippers get. :monkey3

In the original toy collecting arena I came from (G.I. Joes and other action figures)...we call it "scalping".

I have on rare occassion bought a few items that were rare that I thought I could trade for something I wanted...but haven't really done that in a LONG time.

Now I just have a lot of older collectibles that I am selling, it's just kind of ironic that some of them draw in some cash these days. :chew:monkey3

I think there should be a petition for Dave to rename the for sale/trade section to the flipper section....want to buy section should be ranamed flippee section.

I disagree. There are some pretty good deals in those sections. Most of my flipping is on ebay.
