Re: Premium Format Rocketeer

Sorry to hear you're disappointed Eli, you might feel differently once you have him in hand. I agree with SomethingSexy in that he wasn't a built dude, but how the piece is viewed is obviously subjective, so no point in arguing. I guess all I can say is...I'm glad I'm happy with mine :clap

Re: Premium Format Rocketeer

You can't compare superheros to "real people". Could be a bit more bulky? Yes. Is that realistic to the character? I don't think so. He wasn't a big dude to start with.

You don't get what I am saying at all.

No. 1) I am comparing the quality and value between a movie licensed piece and a Marvel licensed piece. Not suggesting that the actor portraying the Rocketeer (Bill Campbell) was built or muscular like a Thor or Captain America PF, but simply stating that he wasn't sculpted throughout like the aforementioned characters. He unfortunately suffers from the Bobba Fett and Spike PF syndrome. And while we aren't going out of our ways to undress them, just knowing that the Marvel hero's anatomy have been sculpted throughout gave some added peace of mind. Some more value towards the respective pieces. It felt as though you were getting more bang for the buck. Plus the bodies actually fill in properly vs. the other execution.

No. 2) While Bill Campbell was no big man, he was no skinny minnie either. He weighed at around give or take, 180-190 lbs. He actually had an athletic build (shown here: https://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b79/squarehippies/bill_campbell/bill_campbell6.jpg ) and not this wiry frame we see on our Rocketeer PFs.

When I preordered this figure I saw a different piece. What I see from the in-hand pics from you guys is a much leaner, scrawnier version than the pics that sideshow solicited. They should have bulked up the body some more and saw how the clothes sat on it before just accepting this. He looks nothing more than a buck 35.

If this was 50 bucks fine, but this becomes a $400 piece for American collectors after taxes and shipping are added into the price. Try closer to $500 for your International collectors. Thus the complaint. What I should have done was cancel and waited until I saw the in-hand pics. I was just so confident it would turn out great. That was my fault.

Well no kidding they are because like you mentioned when you have SKIN TIGHT clothes you HAVE TO sculpt that. When they are normal clothes, there is no reason to sculpt that.

And thus it hinders the appearance. It makes the piece come out wiry looking. If they can get his headsculpt, and backpack so accurate and make such detailed 1/4 scale clothing they sure as heck could get his build more spot-on one would assume. He looks like Bill Campbell alright, if he got the role for The Machinist over Christian Bale.

Am I the only one that sees The Machinist in these pics? lol

I guess I don't see that, looks good to me.

Re: Premium Format Rocketeer

I wouldn't go that far. He's not that skinny.

You guys don't know how human anatomy works. Argh!

You guys make me sick. *kicks ground angrily*

Actually you don't make me sick at all, although I did throw up a bit in my mouth.

Re: Premium Format Rocketeer

Actually all you proved that it looked lanky since day 1 from the in hand pics it needs more futzing with the clothing...

Well futz away to those who just received their Rocketeer PFs! I want to see some added thickness to those legs. Make me believe he can weigh at least 155. lol

I just wanted this to be perfect. This was a piece I requested for years ago and have wanted in my collection since I been in the game. Rocketeer is one of my favorite films and in terms of character designs, it's one of the better ones out there.

This is exactly how I feel, and every time I've glanced over at him on my shelf, the only thought that pops into my head is "____ing awesome." I was able to add a bit of mass to his legs by futzing the pants and giving them some shape btw, they come quite flat and wrinkled.

Can you post pics of the legs futzed with and you better be a true PF leg pants futzer.
