Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Tonight I saw the trailer, it was attached to my viewing of Dredd (which is excellent by the way).

I got chills, especially with the giant, sweeping pans across the environments with the company on their journey. It feels just like the Fellowship. I'm pretty pumped for this one. The whole Riddles in the Dark bit with Gollum was just fantastic.

How Gollum would be able to eat Bilbo whole is beyond me, but still, I think that scene has potential to be one of my favorites of the film.

The Dwarves are growing on me (I hated the look of them at first). Thorin looks like he's going to be "DAT DWARF", possibly my favorite.

December can't come soon enough.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I gotta say, Martin Freeman really nails it (at least in the trailer). He's got the potential to really take this to new heights.

Woot, finally completed my One Ring display replica! :yess:

The pics make the chain and ring look a bit dark, but that's due to the surface on which I took the pics.

Now to save up money and in a few years get a 14 or 18k gold version. :D

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Tell me about it, lol. For $45 total it's one hell of a nice replica. The gold plated tungsten looks really nice in person and even seems like it could pass as a prop used in some of the close ups from the film, albeit with fake markings.

The chain is a surgical steel 65cm chain and the ring is 18k gold plated tungsten carbide, 7mm wide, size 11 men's, which is "supposedly" the exact measurements of the ring, and chain, from the film.

That's great, reminds me of these which I assume is the point,

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I hate wishing my life away but I really wish it was December.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I can't wait to watch one every Christmas now, was a great tradition with lotr.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I watched Fellowship in theaters, but waited for the other two. >.>

Not sure if I'll do the same with The Hobbit. Have to see how it goes, lol.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Saw all three lotr movies in The theaters multiple times now and plan on seeing The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey probably a half dozen times.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Do you find it difficult to get to a cinema??:lol
Not really, no. Just... time and money can be short, lol. It's not usually both, but almost always one or the other. There is also the other variable that kicks in from time to time; no one else wanting to see the film in question, or having already seen it. :monkey1

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I didn't get to see Return of the King because of bad weather and I was deathly ill for over a month. I did get to see it when it returned last year though. :)

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Hoping to god they have a movie marathon of the LOTR trilogy and then first screening of the Hobbit here in OZ..that would be my one wish.
We were lucky to get a movie marathon of all 3 extended editions in one day showing.
But to get to see ALL 4 in one day would be EPIC!
I really love the Bilbo poster for the Hobbit.Hope they doa Thorin and GtG one as well.
Still no inclination of when the Bridge toys hit here in OZ either, even though USA have a date.

This isn't a movie for you, it's an event. :wink1:

I felt the same way when I left the theater after seeing FOTR in 2001. :)
