I'm on the fence about reading it. The fact that we've got a republic vs. an empire turns me off a bit. C'mon, let's get a little more creative with the political groups.

Completely agree with you. The stories in the EU aren't very original. I for one would love to read about how the EMPIRE/Alliance conflict affected regular people. And it would be nice NOT to have ANY JEDI involved. I actually prefer how in the OT the role of the Jedi has been diminished...Whatever.
