Just watched Episode 4. Cristin Milioti is killing it in this show...

I'm a coupla eps behind, I assume that like J2 it still hasn't even mentioned B-man/the Waynes?

I'm also loving this so far. Just great storytelling and acting, source is more or less irrelevant. I'm invested at this point for sure. Without explicit spoilers, I'm glad the one individual was spared because he's a damn good actor.

Yep.

Not that I've noticed. The waynes and Batman have no real bearing on anything thus far.

A fellow Bat-freak even went so far as to say Joker shouldn't have been set in the Bat-verse. I understood his point, but then it probably wouldn't have been made.

Is that drifter Bruce?

when penguin up stages the joker for better representation in media this year. Crazy times we live in.

Is this the first time they've both been in the public consciousness since '66?

Yeah it's crazy how that 4th episode just entirely re-contextualizes the first 3 and makes you see everything in a different way.

And damn is Arkham one scary ass place.
It really makes you wonder who to root for now. I mean the show is called the Penguin and not the Hangman, but Sophia was certainly done dirty and you can’t help but want to see her succeed now too.

I’m hoping the positive reception to this series and particularly this last episode has them going back to revisiting the scrapped Arkham series. This show has proved Batman’s villains are just as interesting, if not more so, than him. Even without including Joker and Riddler in the Arkham show, they could really explore some interesting topics and characters.

I don’t think you should be rooting for any of them :lol
Haha true! But any story that focuses on the bad guys as the main characters trick you into that. Whether it’s a heist movie or someone rising to power you tend to get in their corner and want them to succeed at their badness. Like you almost don’t want Batman to swoop in at the end and ruin everything that they’ve been working towards.

You need to have sympathy for Sofia because 1) she's going to die, and 2) Penguin IS a villain in the end.

Also, no villain starts as a villain, so its always interesting to see what corrupted them. Personally, I don't always need that -- but in a gray world, and when its done well, it can be fascinating.

The Arkham show they were going to do would be great and can get into Bruce's Family from His mom's side since she is an Arkham in this universe. Like his Grandfather being Asmedus Arkham in this world most likely just like in the Earth One comic timeline. It would explain the theme of "The Bat" being a key fear of Asmedus and anyone in his family which would tie in nicely to Bruce becoming Batman.
