The Thing is going to assimilate with atleast one of the Norwegian crew members.

:panic:

The original is one of my all time favorite movies and I gotta admit the trailer for the new one looks pretty damn good. Can't wait to see an official trailer for it.

Oh yeah and Mary Elizabeth Winstead FTMFW.

Bootleg version of the trailer is up, its good enough that you can make out whats going on most of the time and hear it, but the quality is kinda ____ tbh. The real trailer is supposed to be out any day now. Heres the bootleg if you can't wait.

Good God, did he take filming lessons from Blair Witch & Cloverfield!? :monkey4 Hold the *@&$ camera still, or go take a piss, or stop doing crack before you go to the movies. You're sitting in a stationary chair watching a stationary screen! :slap

As to the actually trailer itself, we'll see. I fear its going to retread more than contribute. And what with the whole Kevin Flynn "It'll revolutionize, science, religon, culture" mumbo jumbo speech?

^ Um...no he wasnt. He was on a moving tram at Universal Studios, and the screen is about 12 inches....

Finding an alien lifeform for the first time ever wouldnt do all those things? It would prove that the Bible was incorrect for starters, as with most other religious writings. You'd get people who believed the aliens were gods, which would lead to culture clashes. Just everyone in general knowing we aren't alone would have a giant impact on our entire way of life, it'd give us hope to move into space and as humanity, live forever, is that not worth a fictional toast to the men who found it and will likely be famous? And of course instead humanity itself all over the world is at stake.

Also Flynn was correct as well, comptuer tech has done all that over the past 30 years, hospitals run on computer systems, we all have cell phones, and the pope has a facebook page.

Hell yes! I'm more excited about this movie then any other coming out except maybe The Rum Diaries.

Looks good, although it's essentially just the first two Thing movies again. Definitely has a been there, done that feel to it.

Well you could say that about every Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street movie too, it's about the content. We all knew this was going to be very similar to Carpenter's they are both in isolated Antartic Research outposts. Both teams are figuring out they can't trust one another, for me this will be about the mystery it can craft in who is who and when. Thats the reason I keep coming back to the Carpenter version after all these viewings. Trying to figure out what can't be, even Carpenter has admitted not knowing what's going on. Same thing that makes the Shining work for me.

I'm thrilled with the similarities I want it to feel like it was shot at the same time as the old one, I love those hallway shots of the outpost. But with that I'm also done watching trailers etc, I got what I needed to know, that it looks good, now I want to be able to go in and see it and still have some suprises in store.

I'm not saying this new version won't be good, in fact I said it does look good, but what made the Carpenter version so great was taking the original and turning it on it's ear by adding the Invasion of the Body Snatchers twist to it. This one doesn't look to be bringing anything new to the game, which is understandable being a prequel to the Carpeneter flick, but when I watch I see Carpenter's Thing with a chick instead of MacReady. :dunno

Just watched the trailer and it looks pretty exciting but given how the original movie began, can we assume everyone dies at the end of the film?
