Lonnie,

I completely understand what it is your saying but in the long run just buy what your really truely into. I know that Sideshow puts out some much great awesome jaw dropping stuff but if you really only into Monster even though you may think that for example Doctor Doom is awesome piece but if the character doesn't do it for it then maybe you shouldn't be trying to collect it. I hope this isn't stopping you from going to SDCC.

Bob

Oh don't worry, I'll be at SDCC!!

That's the sad part, I really do enjoy everything I have been collecting. I collected comics for over 20 years and non-sport (read "entertainment") trading cards for almost 35! So, having to pick between Monsters, Star Wars, Marvel and the misc. stuff meant having to pick my favorites. I won't regret having to part with anything, but I will keep the special pieces from most every line that really mean something to me. Like others have already stated, a few gems making up the collection will make it all the more special to me.

Thanks everyone for your empathy. I know I'm not the first to have to make this decision and certainly won't be the last, but it is always nice to have someone else to share with. This board is a great place with a lot of really nice people. :D

Welcome to the Fold....

SW PF Baddies, LOTR Wraiths etc. for me ONLY!!!!!!!!!

I am about to be in the same boat as you lonnie. I have just not decided what I want to keep yet.

I'm in the same boat. I was also collecting just about everything SS. And I recently came to the conclusion it has to stop. I sold about half of collection on ebay within the last 3 months. My lastest was the entire Star Wars exc. 12 inch line. That was the hardest to put on ebay took awhile before I could actually do it.

But I'm sticking with the Star Wars PF figures, they have been awesome. And since PF Lurtz is great I will try to stay with the PF LOTR Line. Maybe a few Vintage PF Monsters or 1:1 Monster bust if the come along. But thats it from SS.

I'll also be sticking with the GG Potter stuff, and I have my eye on the GG LOTR bust, will see what comes of it.

So far, I've been avoiding that situation by being extremely picky with what I can afford and by the space I have. I know how much space I have in my room and how much of a budget I can spend, so it forces me to be choosey.

I collect the SW 12" line, but was picky enough to get the PF Leia only and set aside space and money for my coming PF Boba. I honestly didn't care for the other SW PF's, minus the Grievous. That is one item that is just way out of my budget to collect, plus the space it would take up would compromise the other figures I have pre-ordered.

I also collect Marvel and LOTR. Believe me, those take up lots of space as well. Thank IKEA they make the Detolf cabinets to accomodate my collecting needs. Eventually, though, the cabinets will take up the rest of my bedroom.

I came to the same conclusion earlier this year. :(

When I did the math, I realized that my collecting was getting way out of hand so I decided to start downsizing my collection and only keeping a few select lines to collect. Over the last year, I've sold about 250 1/6 action figures on ebay and here on the freak boards.

Lucky for me, it seems that SS's Uni Monster 1/6 line is done so my favorite line is complete. Although, I'm still holding out for an Ygor figure.

I still buy some SS product but not as much as in the past.

Same deal is happening to me. But since my collection is confined to a bedroom I cant own that much anyway, and it will never be as classy as I want. When I move out room will come.
Unfortunately I'm cutting back on all my 1/6 figures except maybe 2 for now and the rest of my collection will be Statues and PF's. I want to collect the LOTR PF line, but I dont have the space for more than about 3 (and still have a non-cluttered display) I think I may have to quit at a Gandalf PF which is sad as I know there'll be many many more beauties.
I get what your coming from Lonnie, although your's would be far more extensive and it is sad, know you just wont be able to keep those things you've wanted and loved owning.:monkey2

Ok, a couple of people on wait lists are about to get lucky. I just canceled the Cap VS Red Skull Ex. dio and the Magneto Comiquette Ex. Good luck to anyone on those wait lists! :D

You gotta do what you gotta do Lonnie. I don't blame ya a bit.

I gave a couple lines the axe also. And, am putting some pieces on eBay, about 2 or 3 a week. This way it is pretty easy for me to get to the P.O. to ship them out here and there.

The only lines I am collecting now are the LotR P.F. , and still backtracking getting some Sideshow Weta polystone.

I may even give up the P.F. line and stick with the poly line. I just haven't made that decision yet.

Good luck, and hope you are happy with what you decide.

:)
